Re: AIMCO M300 ...... a beautiful rifle
Is it true that the aimco M300 can push a ~14 grain lead pellet at 600 - 700 fps out of the box untuned?
I searched the forum for this but found contradictory statements. Someone posted that
indian springers(.22) cannot make more than 450 fps out of the box again somebody else posted
that these under levers(M300) can generate 600 fps(14 grain lead pellet) out of the box, is that true?
in that case it is equivalent to the precihole orion in terms of power if not accuracy.
Would be greatful if somebody can shed some light on this maybe.

I can't answer your specific question but it is probably not true that Indian springers will not do more than 450 fps out of box. An ancient SDB 50 I have gives me 400-450 and a brand new IHP 35 is giving me at least 525 fps out of box (both 0.22)brahmastra wrote:Is it true that the aimco M300 can push a ~14 grain lead pellet at 600 - 700 fps out of the box untuned?

Of course the higher muzzle velocity has pleasures of it own and my specific fetish is going through two sides of a tin can. I will probably get a warning letter from the society for prevention of cruelty to tin cans at this rate. Having said that higher velocities are washed away rapidly by air resistance and I think that there may not be too much difference between my SDB at 25 meters and the IHP at 30 meters. Both distances are worthless for me because neither rifle can take a telescopic sight I have and my limit for aiming at tin can sized targets with unaided vision is 20 meters, although I very occasionally get a chance to hit a 1 meter square board at 40 or 50 meters. All that does is make a "clang" that pleases me no end and leaves me smiling. But I use heavier pellets for longer distances since the energy retention is better with heavier pellets. The clang is louder with heavier pellets. I am now invariably using light pellets for distances less than 20 meters.

Thanks bennedose for yur reply.
I can almost see yur joy. Its always fun to shoot reactive targets. Happy shooting!
But my question still remains unanswered though i am confident that somebody can
surely help me out.

Hi brahmastra,
> If my memory serves me right AIMCO M300 is a reasonably good & accurate AR - You can check this out with IFGian Basu in Kolkata.
> Its velocity is under 600fps for 22 cal as most Indian made ARs are. Tuning may give you an extra 50fps.

U r correct at present its only the IHP or PRECIHOLE (Indian made rifles) on which u can bet yur money on!
recently i saw the m300 back in production, so was keen to know how hard it can push a ~14 grain
lead pellet. Many guys have commented in this forum that the M300 is more powerful
than the good old IHP 35- .22cal (which is more accurate though). Therefore wanted to know if its myth
or reality.

Haven't tested the gun yet, in fact, haven't even taken it out of its plastic bag.
Will test the tall lass soon.

Re: AIMCO M300 ...... a beautiful rifle
Birha saheb,
I'm not competent enough to give comprehensive comparative reviews sir; I lack both - technical knowledge as well as experience on this subject.
I am merely an imposing student of gentlemen such as yourself.
My love for arms has been dormant since the time I can remember, and has come to life only recently.
Personally, I'm quite impressed with the Orion and even more, by the Pegasus (I haven't got the Pegasus any more though), and before I acquired these a few months ago, my preference was to get myself the M300 (maybe more so as it wasn't available then :p ).
I would grately appreciate it if you could guide me through the review and/or "comparison" of this gun.
I have also ordered a bouquet of mixed mastershot pellets along with this order, so I'll start the show-down when you say "draw"!
...almost sun-down now!
PS: Should I start a new thread if its going to be a comparison?

Re: AIMCO M300 ...... a beautiful rifle
Hi supershaji
congrats for yur M300. I am waiting eagerly for the review. This gun deserves a decent review
which is lacking. A comparison with the orion in terms of accuracy n power will be much appreciated by everybody i guess. Use identical pellets for both the guns n match the grouping for testing the accuracy. For power testing (if u don't have a chrony) use a telephone directory or any other book of similar dimension. Now fire with both the guns (using identical pellets n from equal distance) n see how deep the pellet penetrates (i.e. till what page no.). This will give u a chance to compare the power of both the guns (i.e. which gun is more powerfull). Since we know the orion produces 600fps for 14 grain pellets we can roughly judge the power of the gun being compared to it (M300). Hope this helps for yur comparison.
I think start a new thread on this.
Get going man n don't suffocate the gun in a plastic bag anymore!!!!!!!!!!
