Thank you very much Sir!

I was particularly happy with the 50m revolver (it was as if I was shooting the 50m FP on the same target but with a heavier weapon, a heavier trigger and a heavier recoil for sure, .44 cal :D ) and the percussion pistol at 25m where I scored 96/100. In fact, I shot the 1st shot, felt happy and looked through the scope; it was a 10. Then on I kept on shooting on my SOA without looking through the scope. In the 5th shot, I was a bit unhappy; looked through the scope to verify; there were four 10s and one 9. I deduced that the 9 might have resulted my unhappiness. But immaturity took over me (4 tens out of 5 shots) and shot three 9s. Then I gathered myself, cooled myself down, went back to the disciplined SOA and more importantly stopped thinking about the impacts. At the end of the match, I was happy with my work but found one 7, one 8, one 9 and two 10s all in a vertical line at 12 O'clock position. Experts explained later on to me that during the match the Sun appeared brightly from behind the clouds and lit the targets very brightly which in turn got the impacts higher up. There I learnt that I should have at least looked through the scope and perhaps I could have compensated the zone. Anyway, I have learnt something again :D .

And here I thought I was the only one with diplopia ! ROTFL
OK jokes apart, upacharyaji, pray tell me how the shots move in a vertical line as the lux changes ? That could also help me understand miserable showing last year at a venue where a 150 W bulb, right overhead, was trying to make a tandoor outta me.

Gentleman,
I have been inspired by Dev and Tirpassion to try and qualify as a 'renown shot' . Also to jump start this thread which was in the doldrums for quite some time.

My Goal: To shoot the renown shot category score, in order to take advantage of the liberalised import procedures.

Steps taken:

1. To write an open diary on my progress on TOPS.

2. Contacted a dear friend who has agreed to lend me his Hamerlii Free Pistol.

3. Placed an order for a medium sized grip, which has set me back by Rs 22,500/- RINK Grips.

4. Photographs below showing the preparation of my personal 50 m shooting range.

5. Designed and ordered material for contructing the Trap and target.

6. Ordered material for two simple exercise equipment for strengthenng my hands, torso wrist.

7. I am already walking 4-5 kms a day kind courtesy my persoanl trainer, who goes by the name of Rambo.

8. Since the last three weeks, I have started my stretching exercises more of this later.

Here is my shooting range and personal trainer, who has come to check what I am upto.

Incidentally, I have a clear 60 m shooting distance from the cemented wall, dead end inside the corridor to the target. Hence I can move further to the gate by 10 m. More about this later.

Todays Diary

1. 10 pushups (simple not on fingers)
2. Stretching exercises.
3. Four sets of 5 reps with stone in fist to develop strength of muscles in both hands. Alternated each set with both left and right. The exercise (partial windmilling) Lifting the stone with elbows, wrist locked to shooting height then immediately bringing it down. Repeat 5 times.

Physical Obstacles:

1. I have mentioned before that I am suffering from severe pain in my shooting hand (carpals), Forearms muscles and around elbow joint.
2. Yesterday, I took out my wife's air pistol, did one SOA, the pain was palpable in the elbow.
3. Hence the push ups to gradually increase the strength of my muscles which support the elbow, forearms and carpels.
4. I started my exercises a month ago, with only three push ups, I have now graduated to 10.
5. Yesterday, I attempted my first Biofeedback healing exercise after more than a decade.

Barring the above obstacles, I dont see any problem in qualifying. I have the time, blessed with a shooting range in my own backyard, the knowledge, the experience. I will be patient with my body, I will let it take its own time.

Mental Strength:

1. I only have to think about my FP training and my will power to start shooting and achieve my goal becomes FEROCIOUS, ROCK HARD, Come hell or high water, this fish is gonna swim upstream to its goal.

That is EGGJAHCTLY what I wanted to achieve with my FP posts. You can understand the feeling, my friend.

Before you go running in rain and cold, try shoving a smallish pillow in the seat of your track pants.........just in case

Hi Guys,
> Just came across this wonderful & informative site that contains instructions & pictures.
Strength and Stamina of the Pistol Shooter
www.bullseyepistol.com/stamina.htm
> The objective of physical training for a pistol shooter is to condition your arms, fingers, the muscles of your shoulders and even the waist.
> Whenever a shooter exercises, he or she must put the maximum effort into the exercises & benefit from it.
> Hope you get the best out it :D
