have been trying to design a sheath with good retention. anything designed with leather gets too bulky. was wondering if anyone had an old/unused kydex sheath that they could spare.

What great work! Your efforts are truly inspiring.
Not that there is anything wrong with it the way it is now but may I make a suggestion to improve the utility of your little knife. It might not be easy to implement depending on the tools you have available to you.
If one of the holes in the handle could be made into a hex shape to fit a standard screwdriver bit, you could sew loops (or a small pocket) into the sheath to hold a phillips and a flathead bit.
