Khukri shapes.

I was looking at something when this popped up.

They don't mention what kind of steel it is, but i found them rather reasonable.I don't understand the variations in blade shapes though.Which is more practical? Some are bent quite a bit.Some are more straightish.What are the advantages and disadvantages of either?

They appear to be well crafted.

Dear skyman, Why not PM Brihji with your email - he has a sound document on Khukri design in case you are interested in designing one. Also check with our in-house exert - Moin. Good luck.

AGN, Skyman, there is a thread from me and Moin on khukuri house. We got three khukuris and one knife called the Churi from them. You should go through the thread and understand the effing pain we went through getting the khuks to us. At one stage, i was almost convinced that the lady was smitten by Moin and was simply delaying the shipment so that she could continue chatting with him while we pined for the blades.

OT, but when i was in hospital i read the palms of two very pretty Nepali interns.They were very curious regarding their married lives.I assured one that she would have a good married life, and the other- not so much.She was greatly disappointed.I hoped for a sponge bath but that did not happen

It turns out they come here, study, go back and work there.They didn't like the country but liked the food.

Moin, have you spoken to Ms. Apekcha Pradhan yet?

Moin mian yeh kaun proposition kiya ? I guess we have to "guard" you till the end of April after which we hand over the responsibility to the Doctor.

Quite indeed possible !!!

I did read on that thread and also Marthandeyan's on the Khukri - pre-requisite from Moin Sir before he took us all on a field trip to the Nagdevi. SD and I are working on our basics before we start on the magnum opus - the "Khukri". I have hidden a special 8mm thick 24" long truck leaf spring from the naughty and greedy eyes of other members of the IFG Mumbai's CMG.

Alright, on a serious note, just waiting to get that straightened and to get it from the country home where we planned to work on. But as the old saying goes - "AGN proposes, Brihji disposes".

Is that so? I always thought Briha ji was an accommodating fellow.Also thought he was strictly an air gun man.

AGN....I am really inspired. All of us at the CM gang are budding cutlers....and I personally feel that a khukuri is a classic blade. And creating something iconic is so much fun....cant wait to see the khuk...Do try to create a broad leaf design with a gorgeous voluptuous belly rather than the anaemic stuff

That he certainly is ! No doubt that Brihcharanji is one GEM of a person. But then that's where the problem crops up - like us ordinary mortals, he too has a day of 24 hours and so many people to give so much time. Sometimes, some things get shifted around to get prioritized. And of course there's the Fate factor and the Mutually Convenient Time factor.

But do not worry - the Gang will go there one day... "some" day !

.Will of course runs enough Qs once I start on that - probably in mid-April to May timeframe.

Dear all the Dhar-gurus,

One quick Q - probably stupid but here it is nonetheless.
How is the "length" of the Khukri measured in Indian scenario ? Is it the entire length of the "inverted V", i.e. the boomerang shape or is it measured from point to point "as the crow flies" ?

The reason for mentioning "Indian scenario" is that we have limitations of 9" for a license-free knife (and 2" width) plus staying in MMR, never know what notification gets slapped and when.
