One killed in celebratory firing (Kanpur)

As per eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around 10.30 pm just when people from the bride's family reached the groom's house. As two persons from the crowd took out firearms and fired in celebration, a bullet hit Shanker Lal's son Santram who was watching the 'tilak' function from the balcony of his house.
It's disheartening to read such articles. Not only did they murder an innocent bystander, they also managed to ruin someone's marriage.

Here we are fighting for our right to own weapons and idiots like these keep using them as Diwali 'patakas'.

These incidents are bound to happen when people do not give due respect to firearms and treat them as if they are toys .
I don't understand the logic behind wasting ammunition by firing bullets in the air to celebrate . Maybe it makes them feel more "Manly " , I guess ...

And due to immature activities of such individuals , getting a License for a firearms gets more and more difficult for the rest of us .

I'm willing to bet the people who fired in the air did not have a licence.
