Yep indeed it is the Taig. The give away being the chuck and the chuck dogs. Made one myself of a PTFE impregnated black Nylon that didn't work for my Canon airgun. That was more than 20 years ago. Should work if I try again as I've learnt a lot since, thanks to the IFG. Would be interested getting in touch with anyone owning a Taig or a Sherline. Mods pardon the OT

I have also worked on PTFE to make seal. I failed too. I don't know it is true for all but most indian airguns compression tube tolerance are good in shape. Therefore it is obvious that it will fail.
You can use different material other than PTFE which I have posted here.

Dear Tirths,
The Canon served well for those days when anything heavier was supposed to be better, but in retrospect, that may have been its shortcoming especially compared to the IHP. Mine had an adjustable butt plate and I allowed a lot of dieseling with copious lubrication - nay oiling - with no apparent damage.
I'll remember the Polyurethane next time the Lathe is out and so is the missus.
All the best
