Dev, I am guessing that is ABM's rifle? Looks wonderful.

SS,
Congratulations on your new rifle. Did you get a chance to try it out on the range?

Dev,
That's a beauty. Hardly looks like an IOF . Let me guess. Is it Sanjay's?

Not yet Prashant, I've just managed to disassemble it, clean and oil it up. Now in the process of extending the license validity to Haryana and UP so I can take it to the farm and shoot. Unfortunately no range in delhi to accommodate that caliber. Though the flood areas around the Yamuna look very tempting!

Do you have a particular ammo preference for it?

And are these Warne 902 and 201bases and rings?

Regards,
SS

Thanks Baljit, I am hoping to pick these up soon for my rifle. Based on Katana and your feedback I opened up the lips of my magazine recently and it has quite significantly eased the feeding. Not butter smooth but a whole lot better than what it orginally came with.
Cheers,
SS

I cheated Dev. Had seen a snap of Sanjay's rifle when we were in Delhi.

ss
We were using Sellier and Bellot. 180 grain. @ Rs 200/= a pop.
It's good.

Thanks Prashant. I got about 20 of those(at Rs 168 a pop) and a few Winchester Supreme 150grain from Rakesh/Garg Armoury. Will see which one group better.

Sumit

Prashant Baljit

I got a set of weaver bases, rings, liquid leveller etc we discussed above along with a Nikon buckmaster 3x9 40. While the bases are the right size the screws are larger. Did u face the same issue? Any recommended solution?

Thanks, SS

Common problem.
A gun smith will enlarge the holes and you will be set

SS, get appropriate sized allen screws or shorten the existing screws. See the IOF .30-06 thread for details.

There is no need to re-drill and re-tap, which is what the guy with the best maintained guns in Delhi (or so he thinks) was trying to convey.........but failed.

So talks a man who gave up on fire arms and went back to bows and cutlery!
:D
Simplicity has its rewards. Some one might not know what tapping etc is.
SS, instead of DIY advice, talk to a few good gunsmiths who are dealing with these issues day in and out.
I would reccomend bobby sidhu of peerless fire arms in patiala

Right....so you tell him to tell the gunsmith to enlarge the hole. Classic!

And then he says to the gunsmith:
I am not able to screw in the hole. Please make it bigger for me!!
