IOF .22 Scope Rings?

Which kind of scope mounts does it have? My uncle has one and I wanted to gift him a scope.

I searched here, but there were just too many results and I couldn't sift through them in a day :'(

I'd be highly grateful if someone obliged me and told me which rings are required to mount a scope?

Get him a set of 2-piece mounts to fit 9.5 - 11.5mm dovetail grooves. Most 2-piece air-rifle mounts will do but ensure they fit 9.5 - 11.5mm dovetail grooves.

Do not buy low height mounts as they prevent the bolt from opening. If the scope's objective bell diameter is not more than 45mm, you can buy medium height mounts. Above 45mm diameter, you will need high mounts.

The scopemounts ring size/diameter will depend on whether you are buying your uncle a scope with 1 inch or 30mm diameter scope tube.

I saw a 4x32 for around Rs 1,500/- but it has Weaver/Picatinny rings. How much will the rings cost or should I get some from the United States when I go there in the summers?

I say, air rifle scopes will work fine with the rifle won't they? I assume the .22 has lesser recoil than a spring-piston.

The rings may cost more than the scope you are contemplating.

Since the scope comes with Weaver scope rings you can buy a 2-piece Dovetail to Weaver conversion rail set.

If the scope is air-rifle rated, it will definitely last on a .22 rimfire. However, based on the price, this appears to be a poor quality scope and may loose its 'zero' every once in a while. Probably has bad optics as well. Which scope are you refering to?

It's definitely not the scope you mentioned, "4x32", in your initial post.

This NC STAR scope comes with 3/8" mounts and these should work on the IOF .22LR. Hence, there is no need for you to buy another set of mounts.

Whilst I have no knowledge of this brand, I would be wary of a scope costing under $30.00 claiming to have fully multi-coated lenses.

Since you are on a budget why not search for a Bushnell Sportview or a Hawke HD Sport 4x32, that come with mounts. They are inexpensive scopes but they do work reasonably well.

I do apologise. That was a slight over sight (if you excuse the rather lame pun) on my part. The description quite clearly mentions "Weaver-style rings"...

I liked this one because it has variable power, but I know of a 4x32 scope by UTG (Leapers) which comes with 3/8" mounts, for an affordable $35

I shall look into those as well. Thanks for your time and recommendations.

Do look for other scopes that come with dovetail rings in the size I had mentioned. They are there.

You have two options. You can use grooved receiver to weaver adapters and use your weaver rings on them.

Or you can get rings that will fit right on the grooved receiver. Keep in mind that the standard American grooves on a .22 LR rifle are 3/8ths of an inch (about 9.5 mm) and the European groove diameter is usually 11 mm to 13 mm. Often you will run out of adjustment if you try to use American groove mounts on European grooves. Another thing that can happen is that even if you have enough adjustment, depending on how they are made, your groove mounts could be off center. I have also used some cheaper rings from Walmart and they fit my Polish .22LR rifle's 11mm grooves. Weaver 49192 1" Medium .22 and airgun rings will fit 11 mm grooves and can be centered. I picked them up at Walmart. These supposedly will allow the mounting of a scope with a 40 mm objective. I didn't try mounting my scope. Also Weaver 48459 3/8" grooved receiver to weaver bases will allow you to use Weaver style rings. I picked them up at Gander Mountain. I just tried both of them and they do work. The 48459 fit Ok but you would have to fiddle with them to get them centered perfectly.

One company that makes very high quality mounts is BKL technologies. However, they are not cheap.
I use these BKL-261 mounts on the polish Rifle currently but they are serious overkill and unnecessary.

As Mac mentioned, NCStar is a cheap Chinese brand. They are adequate and should work on a .22LR but they are not the best choice of scope. You get what you pay for.
Also Mack brought up the fact that using Dovetail to Weaver adapters could raise the line of sight so high that you would have an issue getting a good cheek weld.

One of the better dovetail to Weaver base mounts is made by BKL.
The BKL 500 series will fit both the 5/8" US dovetail and the 11mm Eurpoean dovetail. They will also self-center and will attach very securely. The BKL bases and rings are extremely high quality.
