I like it! Will you be exposing or covering the tang?

What are your reasons for choosing a drop point instead of the more conventional spear point?

exposing the tang (it is a full tang knife).
food prep, cutting cord, splitting firewood is what i mostly use my knife for when camping, trekking, angling, etc. prefer my blades to have a deep belly for these tasks. hence the drop point.

thank you moin :D. no polishing. liking the blade as it is. anyway, its a working blade. non-stainless too. best way to maintain them is to let them develop a patina and then slightly oil the blades.

i see what you mean. don't mean to boast, but been tinkering around with tools from an early age. blisters are a done deal. don't get them any more.

Makes sense and I am partial to drop points as well. The more I see that knife the more I like the drop and belly in that blade. Wont make a bad driller either.

Coming back to the Khuk...will you be pinning/bolting the wooden scales to the tang? How long have you tried cordage as a handle material and has it ever expanded and become loose?

the wood core is a sandwich of three pieces that will be epoxied together. the rear bolster and the wood core will be held in tension by the riveted tang.
have only used paracord & synthetic shoelaces as temporary (2~ 3 days treks) handle wraps. haven't had an issue with them becoming. they weren't very comfortable though, as the cord wrapped handles weren't of the right cross section.

:D the handle has been fastenned mechanically - rivetted tang, friction fit bolsters and the cord has been tied onto the wood core. let's see how it holds up against use

rivetting the tang took an hour :banghead:

...thank you but i am not that good and making custom knives might never make sense as a "business"

it cut through 1mm brass sheet with wood backing and then chopped the green bamboo (40mm wide) in 3 cuts. it was able to cleanly chop a 12 mm teak stick (dry lumber)

the curve in the blade really helps in slicing cuts. it allows you to draw the knife in an arc (less effort) instead of pushing the blade across the stick.

i have never been able to sharpen a knife to hair shaving sharp  . the blade didn't slice through paper before and after the tests. i believe it could do with better sharpening.

:o I hope you're kidding. What sharpening system do you use?
