Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Thanks for your encouragement Sir!
I am sticking to the V gripping although it is quite difficult to adapt to the same (it was very very difficult earlier and it is less difficult now ). I am being able to work on a string of 6 shot cycles now. The push-ups on finger tips are on .
I am slowly learning to ignore the bad shots and concentrate on the 10s. To err is human; so ignore them and carry on.
A very interesting and very short session took place day before yesterday. 30 shots in 23 minutes without any seated break. There were 18 tens .
I will work on as suggested by you.
sincere regards

Dear Jitu, jitu sati wrote:hey tir gr8 shooting man. i am getting back into regular prac and feeling better. though the heavy winter has put paid to attempts of jogging regularly. but as the winter is receding even that will pick up.
Since about 18 days now, we are having a temperature range of -6 to +3. We had quite heavy snowfall for 2 days and there was 10cm of snow in Paris. The following 6/7 days saw a temperature in the sub zero range. Lot of solid ice on the footpaths enough to make you fall down if you are careless. It is since yesterday that the snow has melted away and we are in the +ve temperatures. I had gone for jogging for 5 days in the last 18 and I am heavily complaining about the unruly weather .
Charge yourself a little bit more and you will find things easy.

Hey Tir ,
You remind me of an old nike ad, "Mothers there's a mad man on the roads,
He's humming a tune and he's snarling at the dogs...
And he's got four more miles to go.
Just do it. Nike."
Commendable that you can go out and run in the snow now if only I could get on my treadmill heh...heh...heh...

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Are you mad dev????????????????? running on snow??????????
those were specifically the days of absence from jogging when the footpaths were frozen. Past 40, I will hardly take any chance of injuring myself for nothing .
But I have gone to jog in -4°C under a bright sky. The first 5 minutes are difficult but then on the body warms up comfortably and you do not take the risk of stopping or slowing down in fear of cold . You have a nice feeling of lightness after the session.

Dear Sir,
97, 93, 95, 92 (377/400), 96 & 97 = 570/600 shot in 54 minutes (no sighter shots, no seated breaks).
- 82% in 2nd pull preparation (before descending to the aim zone) box drill.
- 31 tens, 28 nines & 1 eight
I am starting to feel the effects of my labourious work on the V gripping since march 2012. It was too difficult in the beginning and I was frustrated with repeated bad points and pain in the hand. At a certain point of time I was at the verge of doubting myself but I never gave up thanks to your guidance.
My sincere regards

I am working as per your instructions (lot of dry firing at home) and shot another practice match today, always in the quest of rhythm. I am myself stunned !!!!3. Develop a lot of confidence on your second pull, through dry/live shooting and Mental rehearsals,

I believe Guruji is the best person to answer to your question.
However, I can only give you my impressions. If you see the series you will notice that they worked like a yoyo. 97 followed by 93; 95 followed by 92. When I finished the first series I was aware of the 97 and my heart started to beat fast. In the next 6 shots there was only 1 ten. What happened really was that I forgot to apply strictly the technique because my mind was flooded with the expectation of another good series. Then on, the curve goes up and tens follow to give me a 93 and 95 (7 tens in 14 shots). Again the mind is invaded by expectation to do a 380+ /400. Hence, the 4th series goes for a 92. After that, being disappointed, I let myself go freely (the mule takes over) and the result; 96 (7 tens, 2 nines & the 1 only eight ) & 97 (7 tens & 3 nines) in the last 2 series.
The main problem is the expectation of score which hampers the rhythm. When in rhythm, you hardly have any time to think of anything other than the meticulous execution of each and every step of your Sequence of action (SOA) and visualisation/mental rehearsal of the shot process.

Jitu, Dev and Tir,
For all you intrepid joggers on ice and snow, make sure that you switch from Nike to snow shoes.
Also, Jitu, this is specifically for you- No doubt you must be breezing through your BPTs, nevertheless be very very alert for any niggles in your knees and or back. After 43, these niggles which we tend to ignore are prone to becoming chronic.
Tir it is your sheer tenacity and perseverence that is yeilding the results.

Re: Tips on Pistol Shooting
Dear Sir, dear all,
I was wondering if the result of good work will be limited to the practice matches in the club only . It happens so often that one shoots impeccably during the practice sessions and somehow, the same intensity of work, the confidence, the zeal etc. etc. vanish in thin air during a competition. I am happy that scorewise, I could stay around the recent practice matches during a competition today .
Yes, I am very happy to have scored 565/600 today in a club level competition (the last of the local competitions of this 10m season). This is my highest score in AP till date and I sincerely dedicate it to TOPS and to all our friends. I can not dedicate it to Guruji because it is too meagre for the time being .
- 95, 93, 96, 90 (374/400), 94 & 97 = 565/600: 6 sighter shots + 60 record shots = 66 shots in 1h26m with 4 seated breaks.
- 32 tens, 21 nines & 7 eights
- The 4th series went down because I was too much surprised by my own performance (It was too much to believe...). Thank God that I could lift myself out of this mediocrity (please do not misunderstand this word; mediocrity for me is the regular everyday level which I am used to and which I am always complaining about). I can perhaps be more demanding out of myself.
The big difference between practice match and this match is that the time taken is much more. The tension/
stress was more palpable and there were quite a lot of shot cancellations due to insufficient confidence. But there were better results; 32 tens. I have never shot 32 tens even during a practice match. So that was fantastic!!!!!!!
One important thing is that I went to the match with the determination of putting up similar level of performance during the practice matches. To my surprise it worked. Now, I will switch on to the muzzleloaders and the Free Pistol with a sense of satisfaction.
best regards

P.S: Attached is the exact transposition of the impacts of the 60 shots. The junction of the vertical and the horizontal line is the centre of the 10 ring. The 8s have been marked. Guruji, please give your suggestions.

Dear friends,
I had posted the picture of the shot impacts of the match yesterday for analysis both by you and Guruji obviously. Now I am just curious to know your analytic skills of shooting (if you would kindly care to respond ). The first and the simplest question.
- The 8s are clearly marked. Can you please tell me why these 8s resulted???
You can provide numerous reasons.
best regards
