pricing policy for iof .22 revolver

Hi. is there any set policy or the weapon dealers can ask whatever they feel like for the new .22 revolvers they sell after obtaining them from the factories? My local dealer asking for 53000. Factory price is 44000 pl guide

Its a Seller's Market. Either you pay the asking price or go through the pains of the IOF application, procurement, TCs, NOCs, waiting period, etc.

The new revolvers in steel have still not been introduced......its the same old revolvers .The new revolvers are still a few months away.

IMHO it should be selling for less than 10,000/- as the manufacturing cost is no more than 5,000/- IF THAT!

Abhijeet, you fail to take into account their overheads. First, they have to breed, raise and train the monkeys used on the assembly line. Then they have to get them drunk! Liquor and Monkeys do not grow on trees

For all you know, our benevolent leaders are selling these guns at a huge subsidy.

The Indian Ordnance Factory Board has no mandate to make profits, and the pricing mechanism followed by them would fall within the purview of the Right To Information (RTI) Act 2005. The cost of manufacture of this and their other civilian products (with a break up for overheads, cost of materials, labour, etc.), the profits charged by them and their justification for the same (sale price/ profits) can be asked via RTI... who knows it may help jog their memory as to whether or not they are adhering to the mandate given to them by the Indian Parliament.

One can also write to the Comptroller & Auditor General requesting them to investigate how & where the IOFB is utilising these usurious profits - I don't recall ever reading about them repatriating any profits to the Government of India, and their defence production is paid for by the Ministry of Defence, so where/ to whom are the profits made from civilian sales going?

And as far as the all steel .22 is concerned it has a long way to go...
Here are the first person experience I got from someone who attended a session held a month ago...
1) The revolver weighs like hell. About a kilo I was told.
2) The sights are too small and out of alignment
3) This one takes the cake .... there is a wide gap between the cylinder and the barrel, wide enough to let light pass or see whats on the other side !!
means the gas will pass and the bullet will drop to the ground at 20 mts or may be less given the barrel length... just a guestimation.

No harm trying to file an rti there must be some reason behind the sudden increase in prices of rifles 315 has been increased by 4900 plus exercise and the 30 06 by abut 7000. Same is the case with 12 bore paper where the price went up by rs 8.

MY god honestly, never thought such policy do exist.
We Indians are very good citizens. We always toes in line quietly.

Jo bhi sarkaari dafter karti hain sahi hoga, mai baap hain wae log, bol ke bhi kya faida.
Even after knowing this I still don't have the urge to write an RTI.
I am a true Indian
