Very interesting video. The technology is still in its infancy but it should be possible to print a complete working gun in the future...

This is an interesting new technology, but I guess I am missing what the excitement is about here. Why do they not simply mount a cutter head to the 3D printer frame instead and CNC machine the same item out of a solid block of aluminum? I suppose that there is not as much fear mongering if one writes about a 20 year old technology?

Either way I do find all this new technology interesting and I am curious to see where it goes in the next 20 years.

Saw this video yesterday and it certainly has piqued my interest, had seen 3d printers before but did not think they would be moving to printing guns anytime soon. Guess using polymers means that it will be cheaper materials wise, than using aluminium blocks in a cnc machine and less wastage I presume. Definitely keeping my eye on this, add another notch to reasons why I should buy a 3d printer..... and those downloads are pretty nice.

@abmetha ... Just thinking of getting a basic air rifle on my way back and a .177 p226, once I am home I will apply for a gun licence, though I am unsure about if there are any special restrictions in Nagaland due to its troubled nature, I remember when I was a kid my dad had to hide his rifles even though he had licence to own them due to a) the army confiscating them during searches because any gun owner could be a potential militant or b) the militants confiscating it for their own needs.. but that was during a really bad period .. on the plus side I believe muzzle loaders and single/double shot shotguns can be owned without restrictions, I think its something to do with customary tribal laws under Article 371A of the constitution, my mum has a shotgun that was given to her as a wedding present.
