Fishing with Inder

Post by Pran » Thu Apr 26, 2007 7:00 pm

Met Inder for the first time yesterday and we decided to go fishing at a lake close to his house. We saw plenty of small fish near the bank about an inch long that we thought were fingerlings (made us think the lake was loaded :) )

Got up at five in the morning today and set out to Inder's place after giving him a wake up call. Both of us set out on my bike and reached the lake at about 5.45(Inder's fishing rod fell off his bag and nearly missed being run over by an auto rickshaw)

Inder cast with a rubber lure(was that a frog?) a couple of times and didn't have any bites.I cast using chicken gut as bait(bad at hook sizes). The vegetation along the banks made it a pain to cast.My line felt tight after 6-7 casts and i went closer to the water to retrieve my catch-which turned out to be a scooter tyre dumped by some ^$#@@ The hook held on pretty well to the tyre and after being unable to release it had to cut my line loose.Lost my first hook, float and weights(The nice red float, Mack The Knife :( )

The surface of the water seemed calm and we didn't see any disturbances because of the fish. The lake either had no big fish at all or we chose the wrong place to fish.
The trip though unsuccessful let us have a nice time outdoors(what say, Inder?)

Will be followed with pics once Inder reaches home.

Pran and Inder,

Let's have a look at the pics of the lake. Could give an idea of what is in there - unless you want to describe it in words. How big is this lake and what are the surroundings like?

The WASI cottage isn't booked for this coming weekend and I was wondering whether or not to go. Ofcourse I want to, just don't know if I can. How are you guys placed?

Wouldn't mind trying this lake either.

Pran, it does not hurt to wade in to retrieve your hook or lure. Getting wet is part and parcel of fishing. Ask Inder. ;)

But the water here was too dirty. On my last trip I was standing in knee deep water while casting.

And here are the pics.. Don't blame me if you only see sunrise. I was just trying my photography skills and I must say they are equal to amount of fish we caught today :)

Snake skin which freaked out Pran :D

We did recce of the area yesterday and saw plenty of small fish and assumed that big fish are plenty in the pond but today there was no movement of fish. I think the reason is plenty of birds at lake; every damm bird was there saw Coots, Cormorants, storks and what not

But I must appreciate the enthusiasm of Pran who was at my place at sharp 5:30. I stopped casting after some time but he was still going on and all of a sudden he reels in and some thing appear on the surface which looked like back of a big fish but soon we realized that it a big scooter tire. Pran and I tried to unhook but all in vain, Water was too dirty for somebody to venture in..

But all in all it was fun outing. Saw sunrise at 5:30 after a long time..

Thanks Inder.That was great trip.

Yup, I am kind of scared of reptiles. What are the chances of finding a snake when you find the skin it's moulted?

Pran

Ps: Inder, would like to copy these pictures to my hard disk with your permission.
