Why, if it isn't my nemesis from the compound world, Achilles, who has challenged me to a spot of trick shooting.

Well, sirrah! Go forth to your scurvy post and announce to the forum that my first trick will be to shoot an apple of your head at ten paces. If that does not end up in giving you a headache, we shall then downsize to something more challenging.

Now begone you traitor to the true bow and show not your face or dodgy heel hither!

Aye sir, as ye beseech me.

As for the trickery, what a sight it shall be!

Bowman,

I have seen Mack in practice.Absolute dedication to the art. However, I strongly recommend to convince him to start with something like a large pumpkin at three paces while you are outfitted in a full knightly armour.

Oh come on Mack don't bring up that old debate again.

By the way can you split an apple at 10 paces? The legend stands at 120 paces if I am correct.

If you can do it at 10 I will try and attempt it at 4 times the distance...

Now seriously, he can do much better than that. I have seen him in practice.

Serious question, can you shoot an apple at 40 paces with a long bow? One attempt or three?

Well said, mon ami! That should frighten him off.

However, the truth is, I haven't uncased my bow since the Diwali vacations or was it Dusshera?

Better get limbered up and ready for the new gal.

Vikram,

He is refering to his string gun...

Never mind ol' Achilles, you and I could do that. Just need a few shots to get the hang of the bow and release and we can pot apples at 40 all day long.

Now you know, why I refer to it as a slob's bow.

No sir no one gets to split Apples on my head, even if he be Hood or Tell

I can give it a try, but I'm a poor guy with just a compound
why I refer to it as a slob's bow
But I did offer to do the same feat from a farther distance didn't I?

You did but I am not impressed because I could do the same with your <cough> bow <splutter!>.

I don't have much space to shoot but this is what I am going to do for my second trick shot. I am going to extinguish a lit candle at 10 yards in the dark. I challenge you to do that without sights. You can retain your let-off, stabiliser and release. You shoot at 10 yards as well. Let's see how many shots each of us take to extinguish that candle. Breaking the candle doesn't count. Agreed or do I get a walkover again?

Bowman, why don't you put up a video of what you can do?

Alright, do you propose to shoot the flame instinctively or are you going to use the Gap method?
