Firearm Licence approval
Hi everybody
Seeking help...
after a long long efforts i am through with all enquiries and series of interviews with police depart. and today finally i was told that we are processing for your licence and i have been granted for .22 rifle only.
Now i want to import a very good long range .22 rifle within the budget of 1 lakh
Please do let me know how can i import a firearm weapon (considering i have licence for it)
Yes yes i know many details are already mention in the forum but i can find only the import procedure for air guns not for firearm.

You applied licence for some other rifle and they have thrusted on you a license of .22 rifle?today finally i was told that we are processing for your licence and i have been granted for .22 rifle only.
.22 and long range? .22 is not a long range rifle. If you want long range rifle, in the Indian context it is .30-06 rifle. And import of firearms is on restricted list of import policy. Please search this forum, the matter has been discussed in great detail. Now i want to import a very good long range .22 rifle within the budget of 1 lakh
A practical way will be to by a new .22 IOF rifle and spend some more money on it. For all practical purposes it will be as good as any other .22 rifle.

Re: Firearm Licence approval
Thnx for quick response....
No i applied for .22 rifle only, going through the forum i found that the possibility of getting licence is more probable if you are applying for sports purposes. Therefore i gone with .22 only. Also i want to make use of my granted licence .30-60 is very difficult to use on the regular basis.
i mean Long Range within .22 family only, i hope there must be some difference in range & accuracy between rifle to rifle.
.22IOF is the option i have kept only failing getting imported rifle...
I will try to search this on the forum, meanwhile if you can provide any link to the topic ...that will be very helpful...
Thanx again

Re: Firearm Licence approval
Congrats. I would suggest to go with IOF .22 sporting rifle which would cost between 45k-60k depending on your location.
For long range- .22 is not a long range rifle. But there are people who have seen the bullets flying more than 500 meters (a few). However, I would suggest you invest in reputed cartridge brands for long range in terms of grain, brand etc. there are some really good match grade available in India, but for a price.

@Safarigent , when you are not sure why confusing this gentleman by posting link ?
Unless you are a renowned shot forget about importing a firearms.
IOF .22 would be your best bet considering the budget.

saptarishi,
if some one comes here, doesnt read the stuff already posted here and wants to waste peoples time, what do you want one to do?????
again and again people come here and start firing off questions without bothering to read up earlier posts!
if you are too lazy to use the search option, then you are being rude and taking others for granted!
there is long thread on this topic!!!

Re: Firearm Licence approval
On 25/05/2012 I applied for arms license for 12 bore shotgun under the category of "SPORTS".I got the reports in favor of me from various departments as follows
1)Divisional forest officer- 30/07/2012
2)District police chief- 16/10/2012
3)Revenue Divisional Officer- 2/12/2012
I had a hearing with the district collector and i got my arms license with validity throughout KERALA state on 14/12/2012.
I express my sincere thanks to Goodboy_mentor for replying my doubts regarding application for arms license with explanations having legal points and i also express a great gratitude to Cherian K.K who is a shooter of Kottayam Rifle Club and IFG member for giving advice in application process.I also got inspiration for applying for arms license from the post made by Safarigent -"Arms License Application rejected"and thanking for the detailed post.Am sure the advice & experience of our IFG members will help more law abiding citizens who have passion towards guns to get arms license in future.I also thank the moderators who keep this forum informative & well maintained.

Guys, I disagree
Everybody is not same, some people are proactive some are not and they are not that way by choice.
If you are taking pain to post a wrong link, then why not post a right link and then suggest the search option. A person will come back on a forum board only if he feels welcomed during first couple of visits.
