Guns of FN Herstal, Sig Sauer Pistols, Tavor TAR-21

Post by LAWMSIAMA » Wed May 16, 2012 4:10 am

Hello, I had a privilage to enter the def expo with my dad, who is an IPS officer(Adll CP,Delhi Police) and also a gun enthusiastic and I came across a lot of military firearms and was impresed with the latest assault rifles, the FN SCAR-L and FN SCAR-H, which according to me were a good weapon, and the action were smooth, but frankly I would say the Tavor TAR-21 was a bit heavy assuming its lenght and size. But I was most impressed with the actions, the feel and the trigger pull of various Sig Sauer Pistols namely the P226, P228 and the P220. And the Saiga was awesome.. no wonder it was illegal for civilian use

And by the way, taser shock is not pleasant at all

It appears you have some misconceptions about what is legal and what is illegal. Any firearm without proper license is illegal. Any firearm with proper license is legal. P220, P226, P228 and Saiga 12 gauge shotguns are all perfectly legal if you have the respective licenses.

Nice report.
It looks like you and your dad had a blast.
The effects of the Taser, I'm sure was not fun at all.
Thanks for sharing those photos with us.
As for the Tavor; I'm sure it would be significantly lighter without the grenade launcher.

The only thing that I wanted to mention is that the SIG P228 is not a current production pistol. It has a carbon steel folded slide and a rail-less frame. Even though one run of P228's was offered, a couple of years ago, with the P229 railed frame, the slide folding machines are not in use anymore. SIG no longer offers a current production folded slide pistol (which is a shame). The P228 was replaced with the P229 which has a machined stainless slide.

Good pics...... i wish, i would get the privilege to visit the exhibition someday....
anyways, would like you to correct the tag in the photo which u have marked ak-56, the type 56 was made by chinese(crappy copy of legendary 47.)
the weapon u hold is miles ahoy than its klashnikova predecessors, much more accurate, and stable. The muzzle reminds me of the aksu_74 it might be using a nato round, perhaps.
the bottom line, the weapon u hold is nt a type 56 assault rifle. just generalize it- the klashinkova from Izhmash.
Thanks again for sharing images.... :cpix:

And yes, the tar-21 is a great weapon, its excellently accurate upto 300mtrs. the great thing is that it has capability to work under cqb and perform as an assault rifle. our paratroopers use it.(seen them stamping march on rajpath with these guns on republic day parade.)

I don't care if I fall as long as someone else picks up my gun and keeps on shooting.

Did you pass out when tasered? Your father looks concerned.
I would rather hit my target gently than miss hard.

firstly , you, sir, are spot on. It is not an AK56. Secondly the gun in question is probably an AK12. In fact i am quite certain it is. :)
