Unbusiness-like practice of Garg Armoury, Delhi

Post by sainikji » Wed Dec 05, 2012 5:15 pm

Just want to share my bad experience vis-a-vis purchase of Pistol Cartridges from Garg Armoury, Kashmere Gate, Delhi

Today I visited the Garg Armoury for purchase of Pistol Cartridges as I am still entitled to purchase 20 cartridges as per yearly quota.

However, after having a glance at the last purchase quantity which was also purchased from it, the person concerned in a very rude manner simply refused to sell me the cartridges

AND the reason assigned for refusal is itself so absurd that I cannot believe it which in his own words was:
"I cannot sell anymore to you as I have to sell to the others also"

Though I tried to reason out but the man was just not ready to listen.

Now I wonder whether that businessman was there to take care of other customers who were not there at the time of my proposed purchase OR as a true businessman has to take care of the customer who is present before him at the moment.

In my own opinion this action on the part of the dealer is not worthy of appreciation.

Often when supplies are low, these shopkeepers tend to reduce the quantity available to a customer. You can see it on eBay and other places where they limit products to "One per customer". While it's not fair, it ensures that other people who've been waiting for a product get a chance to buy some too. The shopkeeper also uses this as a means of gaining a larger customer base by offering them to more people.

I understand how you can be miffed by him refusing to sell you what you're entitled to, but I don't think he's under any legal binding to provide them to you. I could be wrong :)

Sainikji,

Were the cartridges of a calibre which is rare or for which cartridges are difficult to obtain?

Regards.

Dear SriramK

as I have stated in my original post, whether it makes sense to refuse to entertain a customer who has approached you for your business FOR THE SAKE OF A customer who may in future approach you?

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

Why bother just ask another guy. It's common experience which we all have had with these gun dealers. Shortages have led them to believe that they are kings of the business.
