In keeping with the excellent article that farhaan.lateefi posted, linking to the article on the Indian Army's use of the .303, I would like to share with you this article on the Webley revolvers.

The Webley & Scott Mk-IV revolvers in both .455 and .38/200 calibers have loyally served the soldiers of the British Empire for almost eighty years, turning them into a symbol of that time

Webley & Scott revolvers are a classic example of such a story. The model was adopted as a service weapon in the UK in the late 19th century. They were extensively used in the UK and in the colonies, including different versions which remained in service well beyond any expectation, for almost a century in dozens of countries. In particular, the model we are going to take a look, that is the Mk IV, was the service sidearm weapon of the British troops on two important occasions – it was also made available in two different sizes with a myriad of imitations. To put it in a nutshell, here is its story.

By the time I figured out what was what and decided I wanted a .455 Webley, they had grown too expensive for me to afford. Then, the years rolled by and I forgot about getting one. The smaller .38 never interested me so much.

yes indeed very interesting article, Thank's XL.

Webbley is one of the best Rev. in the world back in old day's, this Rev. used by British army, Singapur police, Honkkong Police and i know lot's guy's in India have this.

My father used to have one in 38/200 but it's long gone now, but i have one ( mark IV ) in 38/200 as a memory of my Father and I like to add few pictuers with this article.

It's in mint cond. war finsh and built in 1944, I hope all of you guy's like this .

I didn't know you had a Webley.
That thing looks like it is in pristine condition. What a beauty!

So tell us, do you shoot it often and how accurate is it?
How about doing a range range report for us so we too can, at least vicariously, enjoy it
......and then you can tell Naga what to do with his chili (Hehehe).

Ballot, I shoot target, not combat stylr. I have larger than normal hands. Please give me your views: how do you think a Mk IV would work for me? I shoot Colt DA revolvers now. If you have experience with .455s, I'd appreciate your views on how you think one of those would work for me, as well.

How does owning one of these work in BC, eh?

My father has Webley 0.32 mk iv, in good condition. Almost similar size, but it is not the war finish.

Wow!!! i never thought all of you guy's come back that quick.

First of all let me apologize for tayping,it's not built in 1944 ,it's built in 1140 mean Nov.1940.

Naga.... Thank's for your offer.What kind's of chili are you offering me?so i can think about it.hahaha

XL...... as you know i am 1911 guy's but some time i like to play with Rev.as well.Yes i shoot this Rev.but not very often.This is just my part of my collection but it's shoot really good.
About accuracy, man you have to fight with this Rev.maybe you know this Rev.have only small grove at the rear, but when you find the right tune then it's good.Finding the right tune is pain in the neck.
I have only 300 round left but i order more and it's going to be here in next couple of weeks.(i hope).Anyway when i got more ammo then forsure i'll post the range report with more pictures.

Timmy.... I have large hands as well but this Rev. have a thiner grip then my Smith And Wesson 38 Spl.but it's take some time me to get used to it.When first time i buy this i felt like this Rev.built for the kids not for me.
Sorry Timmy,No i do not have any experience with 455s but i know couple of guy's in town they have one.Next time if seen those guy's in the range then forsure i'll try there 455.
Owning this here in Canada is very simple only you need a restricted firearms licence.Here in Canada we have a Restricted Licence (all the handguns with 4 inch and longer barrel and some semi auto rifles like AR15),Non - Restricted licence (rifles and shotguns with 18 1/2 inch. and longer barrel also all the semi auto) and Prohibted Licence ( all the full auto,some semi auto like FN and handguns under 4 inch. barrels)
