Katana,

Is it in a PDF form or a hard-copy? Would love to have a look at it.

A Browning Superposed is one of the world's all-time great shotguns. My 1959 30" Lightning Super is my favorite gun to shoot SC with. I shoot better with one of my modern dedicated SC guns. But I don't have more fun. As my wife said when she first saw it, "It's a 1950's killing machine!" I like the sound of that.

Thanks for those beautiful pics, Herb. As far as my memory can go back, the Superposed was the premium gun generally available to the USA market. Yours is a real masterpiece. I was intrigued by your comment:
It has peculiar design as as the fore-end remains with the barrels when the gun is dismantled.
The Superposed was a John M Browning design, one of his last, and he really had the master's touch for creating a gun that not only worked well, but felt so nice to use, hold, observe. My compliments, sir!

A well-aged friend of mine told me that when he was a kid, the first thing a guy did when he "made it big" was buy a Cadillac. The second thing he did was buy a Superposed -- and his friends all came over and admired the Superposed! They cost about 3 Browning A-5s, the semi-auto--and were worth it. If Winchester was "the gun that Won the West", the Super was the gun that won the configuration battle for the O/U. They are still winning it.

herb wrote:Sharing some pictures of a recent addition. Does not have the character of some of my 100+ year old hammer guns but it is a nice gun. 12ga, 30" barrels.

It is a Browning Superposed Pigeon, made in Belgium in 1956 and signed by the Browning master engraver Felix Funken.

I was never into O/U's and just have a Beretta for my occasional skeet. From my research over the last few days I learned that Browning discontinued the Superposed a few decades ago as it was too expensive to make economically. The gun is still offered as a custom gun from their Belgium custom shop. It has peculiar design as as the fore-end remains with the barrels when the gun is dismantled.

Hello IFGNS,

Nice gun no doubt,, and asthetically pleasing too,

Now my curiousity is why under over guns are preferred or considered best suited for skeet shooting, as compared to pump action or semi auto shotguns.. which are far more fun and fast ..and as reliable as o/u.... i myself do skeet shooting on the range and after using semiauto(8 shot) and pump action (7 shot) i cannot even think of using a double barrel shot gun and loading them after every two throws.. as to the balance of gun my pump action and semiauto is well balanced and i have option to change the chokes, btw i use modified chokes on them... and these pump and semi auto shotguns are almost 1/3 of the price of a o/u gun and they serve well in goose ,and waterfowl hunting ...and any other hunt which requires follow up shots... and are pretty rugged and tough and lighter in weight... too...and are excellent guns in self defense.... the only edge of double barrel gun over under is ability to change cartridge quitely while hunting in case if you are hunting multiple kinds of hunt..or games ... but same can be done quietly in pumpaction or semiauto too if a person is little technically savvy and know his gun better ... but still o/u are expensive and have more market value as compared to semi and auto shot guns .. please advice
regards...virk
