Air gun killing of a rare species of Monky in Bengal

Post by anindya87 » Fri Nov 23, 2012 9:36 am

Hi! guys I have bad news .A certain CPM (Communist Party Of India) leader from Ukhra Asansol has killed a rare species of monkey using his .22 caliber ihp rifle. The forest department has lodged a complain and sized the weapon. Postmortem report has confirmed that the reason of death is by pellet injury of internal organ. The locals are rising havoc about the matter. Hope no one claims to issue license for air guns in Bengal now. Its due mindless action of a few we all have to suffer. :x

Relax , the noise will die down in a few days. The act is very bad and the man should be punished. But let's refrain from running around screaming,'the sky is falling'. ;-)

This is Bengal buddy nothing dies down here once it gets political color wait till the T.M.C (Trinmol Congress) get a hold of this. As the news channels are screaming about CPM's wrong doing not the individual's who has done it and is absconding.

One less of those irritating buggers.I am sure the 'rare species' is probably either a Langur or a macaque.

Nowadays almost all news channel and media are online and a search with relevant keywords doesn’t revealed much apart from this IFG Link and the one I posting below !!! Also I haven’t seen any newspaper in Bengal describes description of Air Rifle with its caliber and make so accurately in my entire life . May I know how you have got the caliber/ make/ and the political identity of the person in question?

Needless to say I strongly support very strict punishment/imprisonment of the person committed this heinous act, if found guilty

Monkey shot dead
DURGAPUR, 20 NOV: A monkey was shot dead at Ukhra locality in Andal near Durgapur town this morning. The locals caught a former coal miner when he was seen burying the monkey.A herd of monkeys was seen in the locality since the past few days, to the much discomfort of the local residents. Mr Kumar Mukherjee, a local resident shot at one of the monkey’s sitting on the roof of a local club through his airgun. The monkey died within a few minutes. Mr Mukherjee buried the dead monkey beside the club. The other monkeys started a cry, to stop which Mr Mukherjee fired two more rounds that alerted the local youths. Around 50 youths detained Mr Mukherjee in his house and called up police and demanded immediate seizure of his airgun. Forest officials were also informed. The forest department has also initiated a probe. Mr S B Deb, DFO, Durgapur, said: “Killing a monkey is prohibited under the schedule 5 of the wildlife protection Act.”

Like I had suspected, not a rare monkey.Rather, there seems to be too many of them around these days. The person was in breach of law...however,to paraphrase Mr.Bumble, some laws are really asinine.
