Ruger 10/22 commemorative editions

Ruger, through it's distributors has come with with a few different commemorative editions of the 10/22.

This year the offered the "Cattle Drive".

Over the years they have also done various USA shooting team rifles, usually in time for the Olympics.
They were usually in some combination of red, white and blue

XL, I like that Cattle Drive version! Ruger always seemed to be able to put nice wood on guns that the common person could afford. I wonder why nobody else used that nice wood? Anyway, that certainly is nice wood on the rifle you show.

Question: on that Louisiana commemorative, there is the barrel band that one sees on the rifles for sale in Dick's and Gander Mountain. But on that Cattle Drive commemorative, there is no barrel band. Do you know how they bed the action in those models without the barrel band?

The barrel band is not really necessary for the gun to function.
The entire Ruger action is held into the stock with one screw. The shape of the receiver and the inletting of the stock keeps it in place. The barrel is held on to the receiver with a steel block that is held in place by two screws. That's it!
The Sporter models, the 10/22 compact models and the Target model for example do not have a barrel band. They use the same action and a similar barrel, except for the target model as it uses a bull barrel.

Target Model (20" barrel - Laminated stock)

Some of the distributor specials have really nice wood on them. However, those are actually specified by the distributor.

Very nice rifles, the 10/22's are very cool and fun to shoot. Thank for sharing.

I have a carbine with the 18.5 inch barrel and love it.

XL, That's very nice toy no questions about that , but i do not like full stock on the gun.

Keep in mind guy's this is only my choice i am not talking about anybody else.
I think i have to sell my old 10/22 for newone.

Wonderful post XL

Love the take down model... reminds one of the Armalite AR7 from the 60s and the Marlin Papoose that came out in the mid 80s and was sold with a synthetic case that would float in water. But the Ruger 10/22 is a breed apart. Always a winner. Always ahead.
