The GB-II starts shipping from BRK to it's various dealers today but you can reserve yours with the dealer of your choice.

KSF and DLT are almost always the first to receive a shipment and carry the largest selection.

This should prove to be a good but lighter alternative to a 10" bladed Khukuri.

Very nice knife Mack. Does the blade look a bit like a Khukri design? Kya mileage deti hai? . I mean does it cost an arm and a leg?

Hi Fatty!

You could call it a straightened Khukuri. A Bolo is a traditional Philipino knife and come in varying sizes and slightly differing shapes. Some of them do have a more pronounced curve along the spine but not as much as a Khukuri or even a Sirupati. (EDIT: I take that back as I just saw a pic with some mighty curved Bolos - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolo_knife )

BRK haven't announced the price but since it's made of 5160 and I have chosen the cheapest handle material and colour, it should cost between $175.00 to $200.00.

Mike Stewart is a big fan and collector of Khukuris and there should hopefully be a BRK version after he builds the Gladius (Roman battle sword) in 2013.

No don't bother sending it to Moin, will paint on the 'mickey mouse' logo myself. No, seriously will sign a bond stating I will not defile the blade or handle. I love Khukries and this one come oh so close to one and still maintains its own character. I have a Nieto which looks somewhat like it. Cheepo handle with a touch of brass.

Well, that's relative. Some can afford them and some cannot.

I am in the latter category. I sold off many of my old knives to complete the ESEE collection and then sold off most of the ESEE collection to fund the Barkies and then sold off many Barkies....

To give you an idea and to make Dr. J even more J I started buying knives again after a long lay off on 17th December 2011. From that day to today, I have had 12 ESEEs and 11 Barkies, not counting the GB-II. From that stash I have retained 2 ESEEs (Izula-II and 3) and 3 Barkies (Aurora, Little Creek and Golok), so I have not been such a bad boy after all.

I doubt I will hold on to the GB-II as I have never felt the need for a medium-heavy or heavy wt. chopper and the Golok is just the sort of medium wt. chopper I require. Infact, I may even cancel the order for the GB-II after the price is announced and if I feel it's on the higher side.

It's just khujli and once scratched, it's sold to the big collectors and I look for something else to try out.
