where to buy battle fatigues in delhi/ncr/pune?

Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

where to buy battle fatigues in delhi/ncr/pune?

Post by Raptor » Wed Nov 14, 2012 9:18 am

hi all

need suggestions on where to buy readymade battle fatigues. I am planning a trip to pune and i and my friends will be hiking a a bit through the wilderness in an round the pune/satara districts. However, we are not the proponents of tight clothing like denims and such, they are impractical and get itchy once one starts sweating. Now the fatigue trousers are pretty tough and durable . Unfortunately the commercial cargo pants don't last more than an hour or so and the tailor made versions available in delhi cant area have a nasty habit of coming apart at the seams. Blame it on the flimsy threads used. The point is we have tried both and they failed the tests. Now from past experience I can attest the purposemade american cotton/poly-cotton fatigue pants are really good, both in terms of their carrying capacity and durability, but I couldn't find any store that carries them. Any advice/suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

To get tailor made stuff: rocky tailors in gopinath bazaar. His seams dont fall apart
Else, see the shop opposite hdfc bank, has the whole gamut of adventure gear. And i mean the whole gamut.
Adventure 18 in satya niketan has a great range too.
Its the 4 last shop on the main road.
Mohit oberoi is the owner and an experienced outdoorsman.
Great quality but slightly expensive.
Cheers

thank you sir psycho....will check that out too... Strange MG road used to be a favorite haunt of mine but i never noticed that store.....there is a problem with wearing camos though...especially if you wear your hair short like i do....people ask all sorts of moronic questions in all sorts of places. That's why i avoid camos as much as possible. ;)

US army BDU pants are great. They are comfortable and tough. They resist ripping and I've never had a pair that had the stitching come undone.
Like Raptor, I don't care to wear the camo pants because all the wannabe's wear them now. You can get plain green, black and khaki ones though. They won't be the same as the surplus ones but they're made out of similar cloth.

If you want really comfortable and hard wearing pants, see if you can get a hold of Duluth Trading Company's Men's Ultimate Firehose Work Pants or the Firehose Work Cargo pants. They're made of cotton Firehose Canvas. While they are not cheap, they'll pretty much last an average guy a lifetime.

Also, I still have some original Levi's from the 1980's that have worn very well. You can't find denim that thick anymore.
The US made Levi's can't be afforded by the average person anymore. When they want over $150 for a pair of jeans, that's too much.
Everything else is made in China and the longevity sucks.

couldn't agree with you more, sir! Unfortunately i'm stuck, geographically at least, in india..and for some reason our soldiers get their fatigues tailored...back in the 90s we were issued with tough cotton fatigues in the palm leaf pattern but they changed the material later to a polyblend with itsy bitsy thigh pockets....plus we also use pleats on our fatigues...i mean COME ON, pleats....on fatigues! The idea is to use them to rough it out not prance around like peacocks!
