Hi ,
I have been searching for disposing pellets did not get any satisfying answer so I have question for our fellow air-gunners. how do you dispose used pellets and what is environment friendlily way to dispose lead pellets.

Do fishermen cast their own fishing weights?
I used to do this with my dad where he would drill holes into, but not through a board and we would set a paperclip in the cavity and then pour the melted lead into them, then split the board and use the fishing sinkers.

yes , we also used lead as weight for fishing but it will use some of pellets and these pellets will keep on piling day by day or week after week depend on your practice cycle.Mark wrote:Do fishermen cast their own fishing weights?

Casting fishing weights is my preferred solution, fairly straightforward and safe so long as you use common sense. Will see if I can dig up a couple of photos of fishing weights cast by me using lead scrap (used pellets, wheel weights, etc).

You can do the following
1. You should keep them with you because they can be used to make counter wights for your rifle. This allows better handling of the weapon.
2. Pellets are made of lead so this means they have to be handled properly. So your options are
a. Sell it as scrap metal
b. Give them to a shooting range and they can dispose of it
c. Give it to a metal working shop nearby as they can use it to make solder.

Mine used to get made into shot (when i used airguns)

Scrap metal dealers in India will buy lead at the going rate.. I think pellets must be collected and disposed off safely because of the possibility of lead poisoning of soil. If you are shooting at home and have a fruit/veg garden - collect your pellets and sell them of as lead. It is because of the lead content that your old car battery is exchanged fr a small sum of money when you buy a new battery.

I have a 20 meter target range at home but if too many lead pellets collect in the soil the metal can leach into the soil, enter your water and food chain and cause lead poisoning. Here is how I collect all my pellets.
