DEAR MARK

CONGRATULATIONS FOR GETTING A LICENCE. MANY INDIAN BRANDS LIKE MGM, SUJATA, BSA CORP, MEHERSINGH, MODERN ARE GOOD AND ARE HAVING BARRELS MADE FROM IMPORTED RAW MATERIAL SO YOU CAN FIND ANY OF THESE. LET ME KNOW IN WHICH CITY YOU ARE BASED SO THAT I WILL LET YOU KNOW FROM WHERE TO BUY.

Imported steel ? Imported barrels/action ? I am afraid that is not correct .

None of the Indian made shotguns are suitable for shooting sports (trap/ skeet/ double trap). You will need to shell anything upwards of INR 5 lacs for a Beretta/ Perazzi if you wish to pursue any of the shotgun disciplines... if you are lucky you may be able to locate a suitable Browning shotty, which (ceteris paribus) will cost you less.

Not to say it CANNOT be done, some chaps have actually shot MQS (in skeet) using modified IOF shotguns - even in the last Nationals there was a young lad (from Punjab) who pulled it off. BUT taking this route you will be going forward with a definite handicap.

Cheers!
