Your thoughts on the FN FNC rifle?

Post by Skyman » Fri Sep 14, 2012 8:56 pm

Hello,

Was doing some reading and came across the FN FNC which is a widely used rifle, a replacement for the FAL.Any one handled it/know how reliable it is etc? This looks like an AK but much better components and construction methods.

Thanks.

Have not used or handled one but you should get a reasonable approximation with the INSAS (though not in terms of quality) since it' s mostly an FNC grafted onto an AKM type receiver.

The FNC, I think is a pretty good weapon though it lacks a bit of the finesse of its predecessors mostly in terms of finish and up to some extent, its build quality. The smart thing is the use of an AK based bolt/carrier system (not very unlike the SIG 550 series) married to a lower receiver which clearly owes its general layout to the M16/AR15 including the magazine. My preference hands down, would be the Swedish version the Bofors AK5 and its variants.

The FH77 was quite effective in Kargil

Very Nice Stormwerkz!
I've really got to stop and look you up next time I'm up there.
