Hiram A. Smith Whetstone, Smith Deluxe Set, old, Natural Ark

Post by mercury » Tue Sep 18, 2012 4:08 pm

was clearing out the work table...getting ready to put in a new kit in my d350...when i found this set. i have no knowledge of knives and accessories, but i do remember now the set being gifted to me about 15 years back by an American friend and keeping it because it looked good!! untouched by me...but the box is kinda banged a bit , nice smell when it is opened and the oil is still full. not bad. one stone is fixed on some aromatic wood.

googled and found it,,

http://www.sharperapplications.com/natural-arkansas/

what is it specifically used for?? the wife wants me to sharpen the kitchen knives with it.....

regards.
Throw me to the wolves....I will return leading the pack.

That guy wants to sell his old set for $115!!!!!

They are only $16 new! (possibly it is a typo and he only wants $15, even so they are still still cheaper than that on Amazon)

Anyway, that would be a fine set for sharpening your knives, whether for the kitchen or other use so use it and enjoy.

When the stones are larger they can sharpen a bit faster, but the edge will be identical to what you can do with that set.
