I mean , range , accuracy , reliability , handling , durability , approved , disapproved and your findings - Haji
i am not an expert in it but what i felt is as follows. I have explained few points in layman language
insas /slr
Type:Assault rifle/battle rifle - desi conclusion- situations demanding close combat
and hosing out many bullets with the feel to
overcome multiple targets with precision when
each second counts then i would prefer to hv
insas. If killing is the only option, you have
a big army to replace ya ,you are
in distant safer location & the
bullet decides the rule then SLR.
weight:4 Kg or lesser/around 5 kgs -though small but important during stealth ops
rate of fire : practical experience: i felt that INSAS had better rate of fire and what people call it as three round burst as it was well-focused, controlled and could be grouped easily on specific or multiple targets giving time to overcome the collective recoil of the burst. Whereas SLR is good but i never got a chance to test its sustained fire part.
Length: 37.8 inch 46.46 inch :: Lambi gaddi tak to modne me problem aawe hai jhe to
rifle hai. .English - Lesser Torque is needed to operate
INSAS during quick action emergency making it user-friendly.
The ability of INSAS to injure instead of killing immediately won its use in civilian control as well. This might be having some use in reducing the cost factor of bullets for government by replacing 7.62X51 nato cartridges by smaller ones and also using the same for police/army..
for any interdiction weapon of choice depends upon
1)skill,strength,stamina and intellect of the soldier
2)distance, defense (armour) and deployment (positioning and number) of defenders
Therefore, for semi-skilled soldier the rifle should be INSAS, dushman zyada hai to INSAS, dushman kareeb hai to INSAS. This is what i inferred from my experience but the expert members could suggest better. If distance and killing is concerned then there are better options available than SLR to get equipped
I also heard somewhere that the Government is preparing to replace INSAS with something better
