That's some really heavy artillery there. Do you have any information regarding the three bows and the various arrows? Approximately, how long do you think those arrows are?

What are those 'sticks' in the corners?

First let me thank you details on " How to make alluminum arrows " though I dont know from where to procure all the material in mumbai to do so

As you can the image the one on the right is reflex bow and strng wrappen in leather ! that what i saw ! why I dont Know .. The Left one I dont know what to call ... both were almoust 4ft in length ... and its made of 17th centruy.

The sticks in the corners are also arrows . with tip similar to our regular field tip , But I am not sure if they use field tip as this collection is one from Kings army.

A composite actually which has been strung the wrong way by some moron.

BowMan: You are right, the bow on the left is strung and incorrectly at that.
What would you call the bow in the centre - a longbow with a whole load of setback?

Actually that is also a composite. You can see the characteristic shape and the siyahs.

I believe these are examples of a Mughal Composite bow with their slightly longer almost disproportional siyah. Saw a beautiful example of a Mughal Composite at Jaipur City Museum finished in black with Kuran engravings on its entire length in gold. I know that while the limbs of a Korean or Central Asian bow are parallel at full draw the Mughal Bow flexed even beyond that.

I am not sure about those small shafts on the top corners though (I also saw them at Jaipur). Are these meant for training young princes or perhaps shooting rapidly in close quarters/cramped situations where full draws might have been impractical and also unnecessary?

From what I saw there its not possible to use those small arrows in any of the bow's present and it cant be use in close combats as it wont be effective , What i notice is the tip is more similar to the field tip we use.

One more thing guys what confuses me that possibility of cross bow in that era ? As the size of the arrows are similar to the cross bow arrow we use now a days

Cross bow bolts is indeed a possibility, something that did not cross my mind. But I am not really aware of any instance in History where the Mughals fielded crossbows. For them a bow was always meant to be shot from horseback. Perhaps the Rajputs who dismounted before they discharged their weapons may have done so.

Any thoughts?
