Re: Archery Interested Members On IFG
I am into archery, although not professional but do own a compound bow and usually am out shooting arrows for target practice. Archery is a great sport and hobby. Unfortunately the unavailability of good compound bows in India has made it difficult to pick it up as a sport.
Cheers!!!!!!

Re: Archery Interested Members On IFG
i am very interested in archery. used to shoot regularly. would love to create an informal group that can meet and shoot regularly.
my bow (length - 64") is a fiberbow FB5.99 riser fitted with a beiter plunger, sebastian flute SF Pro carbon fibre sight and SF Axiom ILF limbs (#36).arrows are easton X7 eclipse. ordinary dacron string. the plan was to upgrade to high end hoyt or W&W limbs when i could shoot higher poundage....it never happenned my 2 cents: it shouldn't cost more than 10 K ~ 15 K to import a basic recurve set (KAP riser, limbs, sight & accessories, easton jazz arrows). this will be good enough for leisure archery and can shoot quite accurately till 30 metres.
it is better for a newbie to start with a basic recurve bow than an indian bamboo bow. most of the bows are not made to strict tolerances. the bamboo limbs fatigue significantly after continous shooting for a couple of hours. the bamboo arrows are very difficult to match(almost impossible if you dont have a large stockpile to choose from). this means that you will have to adjust your aiming spot for each arrow. the differnce isnt much at shorter distances but could mean aiming at the top of the target pad for one arrow and at the bottom of the pad for another arrow at longer distances(>= 30metres)
