Finished the stipling on both the scales and sanded them with 150 grit paper. The handle is super grippy now, held it under a running tap, sticks to the palms like glue..Stripped the coating with coarse grit paper. Have just hit it at the moment with 150. Lot of grind marks, deep on the swedge, will try and take these out and take the polish using various grits upto 2000 grit then buff. Have retained the black coating below the handles as it is 1095 carbon steel and will rust specially below the scales.
Deep grind marks on the swedge

Working on the blade with 150 grit emery to take out the grind lines, these are quite deep below the coating . The damn blade is scary sharp, doing this wearing thick leather gloves, and it sliced almost through the gloves twice.Rajat wrote:BTW hows that becker coming up?
Given the limitations of the Lansky kit was a bit reluctant to dull the blade before the mods.
This will take a lot of time and elbow grease. Hope to do a nice mirror polish this time, got some practice done using the stitched cloth buffing wheel. Got some nice hardwood floors that I will use to make scales once done with the blade. I'm more thinking in the lines of brass pins with the hardwood instead of trying those countersunks. Let's see how it goes...

Moin, apart from a DIY whiz, you also appear to be a photoshop whiz!!!!! That pose is simply great!!!
However, methinks apart from the smile, you have another difference with Mr. Statham - a full head of hair!!!! Want to use the redone Kabar to "trim" your hairline a little? You do try shaving with the sharpened stuff, don't you???
