It is indeed a nice blade and these are some great pictures and observations that you have posted..
Someone beat you to itMoin. wrote: Rajat any chance of sending those spare rosewood handles to mumbai

Moin, it promises to be a workhorse. I still havent used it till now for some strange reason. The BK7 handle is much more easier to work with as opposed to the BK2. And though it is slightly less stout than the BK2, I have a feeling this this may be a much better option in certain tasks. Congratulations....

Ignore if this is not what you had meant.slingshot wrote:The BK7 handle is much more easier to work with as opposed to the BK2. And though it is slightly less stout than the BK2, I have a feeling this this may be a much better option in certain tasks.
The handles of the older becker lineup: BK2, BK3, BK4, BK7, BK9 are all exactly the same size. The scales are interchangeable. The same micarta scales sold by the company fit all of them.
The handle of the BK7 is less stout because the thickness of the blade / tang on the 7 is less than that of the 2 i.e. 1/4" vs .188".
The ease of working with the BK7 might be attributed to blade geometry and as a result the balance and weight distribution.

Rajat, spot on. The handles are the same. However as the BK 7 is less stout, it fits better in moderate handsRajat wrote:Ignore if this is not what you had meant.slingshot wrote:The BK7 handle is much more easier to work with as opposed to the BK2. Rajat & Slingshot, the BK2's tang is 5mm vs the BK7 at 4.77 mm. This difference can only be seen with a vernier calliper It's probably the blade length and geometry which makes all the difference, i think
I want to deramp the blade, some how find that the thumb ramp breaks the very clean lines of the blade, also sharpen the swedge, make it more stabbitty stabiity stab stab

Dunno what made you think so. The BK2 is 6.53 mm and the BK7 is 4.77 mm thick.Moin. wrote:Rajat & Slingshot, the BK2's tang is 5mm vs the BK7 at 4.77 mm. This difference can only be seen with a vernier calliper
This difference of 1.76 mm matters a lot where knife tangs are concerned and may be easily noticed without the help of any instrument

I really want try to do scales like your's, but the countersunks a challenge, don't have drill press. Secondly there's a portable stand drill press which accepts dremels and power drills for Rs.1300 but my cheapo drills chuck only accepts upto 6mm. Atleast a 1cm drill bit would be required, which bit did you use

Maybe I have girlie hands then chief (if you ignore the Gorilla like hair), the handles still large for a good grip... Will try sanding to reduce teh size by an mm or two....

3/8" or 9.525 mmMoin. wrote:Rajat wrote: which bit did you use
Yes, it may be called a 1 cm bit.
I do not know which drill you own but the chucks are changeable. You may consider buying a larger chuck for your drill. This will not affect performance if higher torque is not needed (which is really not needed for this application).

Damn, did'nt know that... Will try and have the chuck changed, thanks Gurudev Any cheap attatchment available which helps convert a bench grinder to a belt sander. there are a few available online but horrendously expensive, mine is 300W Skil Bench Grinder....Rajat wrote:3/8" or 9.525 mmMoin. wrote:Rajat wrote: which bit did you use
