How to make knife grippier?
Hello,
Been practicing with my boker, and once the knife flew off and the tip bent. The plastic grips are quite slippery. How to make them grippy? I put insulation tape on my pull up bar and that worked very well.It was a slippery Galvanized iron pipe at first. Now, i regularly lose skin to it.
Perhaps this can be done to the grips? But that will look and feel uncouth i guess.Ideas?

I would rather hit my target gently than miss hard.

Plastic grips?
Here you go
Use a drill or soldering iron or both

My grips are very thin, can't afford to weaken them. How bout a rubber sleeve or something extra on top?

You have these rubber grips or tape "wrap around" non slip grips that are used on tennis and badminton rackets. What do you think?Skyman wrote:My grips are very thin, can't afford to weaken them. How bout a rubber sleeve or something extra on top?

Or take these off and get these sandblasted if that is possible for you.
First do a trial run on some similar material.

skyman...which model of boker?
stick a couple of strips of cycle inner tube onto the plastic scales. shouldn't cost you more than 5 bucks .

Dear Skyman
Its very simple just use Paracord which gives you very good grip.

Frame lock can't do that.

This one, correct?
I would try to fill the 3 grooves in the handle with something, Either gluing pieces of cord, or possibly twisted copper wire might not look too bad.
Visualize this:
and you cut pieces to fit the grooves, and glue it in with contact cement. With copper or brass wire it would even be attractive as opposed to some other methods (such as coating with glue and sprinkling it with sand) that will work well but to be honest are somewhat embarrassing to show off.
Another more time consuming approach would be to remove the rubber handles and make a set of your own out of wood, that would look the best of all.

Sorry! This was an oversight. I was under the impression that the subject knife was a fixed blade.
Now that I see that it is a folder, the size and the design I really do not see the reason why you would want it "grippier"

Re: How to make knife grippier?
Hi Skyman, since the limit is 20 bucks, would suggest buying 150 Grit Emery Paper for INR 10 and sanding the scales. Or buy a small hacksaw blade and cut grroves along the scales. This should fix the problem.
The best solution would have been to stipple the scales using a Soldering Iron as shown by Rajat above, but then this would have to be purchased if you don't have access to it.
P.S: You mentioned practising with the knife, are you trained in martial arts.
