While I really have nothing to say about the Police Officer's feeling that he was about to get mugged, since I wasn't there; the rumor that the "gentlemen" who accosted him were just handing out free Calgary Stampede tickets turns out to be so much BS.
I have observed that making fun of American's is a national pastime in parts of Canada. The stupider they can make the American look, the more superior they feel. Obviously it is not everyone in Canada who feels this way as I have Canadian friends and have never felt that they were anything but friendly. A lot of it seems to come from people who have never been to the USA.
On the other hand, there are American's who deride Canadian's for being effeminate, metrosexual beings who can't stand up for their own rights.
This type of chatter from either side is not worth wasting time on.
