I have imported a new PSE Stinger 3G Compound Bow but dont know where I can find a archery range in bangalore.

Can anyone help?

You can go to Decathlon in Sarjapur.
They permit use of their range. Check with them over the phone. You can google for it.

If you r planning to go to the U.S then u can carry it with yourself or if u r planning to import it you can do it through ebay.com. Not ebay.in. There are some global shippers u can try them. I carried it myself and came out without being questioned from Bangalore airport. If they question u tell them its archery equipments and u r an archer. They will let u go and if nothing works remember its India and money works.

Congratulations on aquiring a bow. I always believe shooting an arrow accurately offers far more satisfaction and challenge than rifle shooting. Do shoot and practice with it regularly for there is nothing more shameful than a good weapon that is stuffed away in closets to slowly disintegrate.

Thats a gr8 bow and shoots excellent for the Price. I have the same bow for many years now and can vouch for its performance. A better product can not he had in terms of smoothness, reliability and accuracy for 300$.

It is slightly sensitive to release, perhaps because of its short axel to axel length. Also sometimes one of the cam screws can run loose. Make sure you have allen keys and wrenches of correct sizes for almost all screws/bolts and you check regularly for tightness, wax the string and lightly oil the axels.

Make sure you check it for tuning and operate it safely after going through instructions and it will give you years of service.

They are now using foam at Decathlon. It is quite likely that you arrows will zip through and hit the wall behind.

I would suggest joining the archery association at Kanteerava Stadium.

Yup Mack The Knife. Apart from my Compound PSE I also do have some traditional Indian stick Bows; one Bhil Bow which has a monster's draw, three sets purchased from North East and one of Fiber purchased from decathlon.

As regards to your assertion that Bow's are not weapons; well I cannot disagree more. To me they are very much a weapon and I treat them as such, so they never get pointed at something I do not intend to destroy and they are part of Shastra Pujan every Dussera.

BTW that is a sweet looking longbow you have there. Any experience of a Central Asian composite or something like a Samick SKB?

Your bow/s are sporting tools. They can be as safe or dangerous as a steak knife, hockey stick, etc.

Continue refering to them as weapons and the dimwits will want them licenced or banned next. You decide.

No experience of the bows you mentioned.

Yes bows and arrows are indeed sporting tools. That is exactly why they are not covered by Arms Act 1959.

I can understand your view and as an Archer I too would dread that situation. However for the sake of a good discussion let me put my views on this.

Rest assured whatever we may do or say on this forum does not seem to affect those in the business of legislating or enforcing the law. If it would have been so there should have been some improvement in the deplorable environment we have regarding arms, legal and otherwise. This is really sad but it is true.

I also beg to differ with my friend GBM's observation here as to why the Arms Act does not cover the articles in question. The act makes a differentiation between arms and firearms which needs to be appreciated.

2.c arms act clearly states that "arms" means articles of any description designed or adapted as weapons for offence or defence, and includes firearms, sharp edged and other deadly weapons, and parts of, and machinery for manufacturing, arms, but does not include articles designed solely for domestic or agricultural uses such as a lathi or an ordinary walking stick and weapons incapable of being used otherwise than as toys or of being converted into serviceable weapons;

Further, provisions contained in Chapter II of the act pertaining to such subjects as acquisition, possession, manufacture, sale, import etc. only apply to 'FIREARMS'

3 (1) lays this clearly - '(1) No person shall acquire, have in his possession, or carry any firearm or ammunition unless he holds in this behalf a licence issued in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the rules made thereunder:''
