My First Airgun

Post by horribleharshad » Sat Jul 14, 2012 9:24 pm

Hello folks.
Now I've been an IFG member here for six years now and was on the yahoo group before that. Point being, this has been a long time in the coming. Today I finally received my IHP Mod35 air rifle in .22. I was holding out for the .177, but AIMCO never seems to have it in stock. The delivery was prompt and the packing excellent.
So far, I've just unpacked it, cleaned the grease with Wypall paper and Acetone. And ended up firing a pellet because I cocked it during cleaning. This caused a bit of dieseling and more than a little consternation to folks around.
Will put up pics soon :)
Meanwhile, I find that the windage and elevation for the sights are stuck, won't move. And the cocking effort is much higher than other M35s I've used. Also, closing and opening the breech is unexpectedly difficult. I'm assuming that this will all go away after a few hundred shots.
Is there anything I need to do before I use the gun regularly?
All in all, much much joy.

Much thanks and Cheers!
Sic Transit Gloria!
