Jakhama traditional shooting competition
The age old annual “Traditional Shooting Competition” of Jakhama Village was held on July 29 at Jakha-Tsiezou, organized by Jakhama Youth Society (JYS).
This competition is held on the 4th day of Chünyi (local Millet festival) every year.
More than 200 youth participated in this shooting competition along with inspiring participation led by Col. Govind Singh, 164 Infantry Battalion TA Naga, Jakhama and his colleagues.
The organizers expressed gratitude especially to the Army officers for their enthusiastic participation, which in turn have inspired the local youth to be disciplined in their endeavors, and also to Medose Richa Chairman, Jakhama Village Council and his colleagues for their encouragement and support.
Kezhodeho Tetso, Kelüvizo Tetso and Nozosül Zhotso were the winners respectively and awarded with cash prizes.
All the 8 Khels of Jakhama and local youth clubs constructed tents and organized various entertainment games for the public which added to the success of the shooting competition and concluded the Chünyi celebration.

There used to be a lot of such rural shooting competitions in all parts of the Country held with guns, bows'n'arrows, slings etc.
Sadly these are being forgotten and we can see the dearth of talent representing the country at Olympics.
Nice to see that the old spirit is still alive in some corners where men can go and challenge for the keenest eye and steadiest nerve

not really just 12 bore and muzzel loaders and airguns standerd cal only.
