I live in the commercial capital of this country and it has only two ranges which have 50mtr ranges in a 100km radius, with less than 30 lanes put together. Access to both is highly restricted. I am sure the situation is more disappointing elsewhere.......the situation is unlikely to improve in the near future.

In case you don't know already, in this country's history, no government has ever decided and put into practice, that what is "good" for the citizenry. The "good" of access to good quality air rifles comes way, way after stuff like drinking water, adequate food, shelter and healthcare for the people. One gets the impression that most of the citizenry does not care about it, the fact is most cannot do anything about it in present times and are in a resigned state, again a lot is being preached here as well, but what and who practices what they preach ?

The model you propose is already being practised at many ranges in the country for target shooters. Private individuals and institutions are doing a stellar job here as opposed to the government folks. If you read up on FT and HFT you will realise that you have erred on the info you have provided.

BTW, Do you live in India or elsewhere ?

Well, for Metallic Silhouette Target shooting ( metal plates ) is done on an outdoor range where wind can be a factor and the minimum distance is 50 yards. The.177 cal air rifle is not at all suitable for this target shooting. The .22 caliber air rifle is minimum for it where Government " should decide " what is " good " for it's subjects ", otherwise .22 Rim fire rifle is minimum. I am sure there are quite a few shooting ranges here which can promote this tournament if there are sufficient participants. It can start with borrowed weapons on the range. All you need is to buy pellets there, a pay a nominal fee for participation and of course obey rules of the shooting range and be polite with fellow participants . No one is looking to make any money out of this tournament. It's all about having community fun , like a picnic w/o family.

Shooters in foreign countries, whose government trusts their citizen with superior weaponry, do it with high
power rifles, some at incredible distances ! Citizen have rights, subjects don't ! They can only complain, grumble and criticize each other while citizens of developed countries have fun to their heart's content because their is a mutual trust between the government policies regarding Citizens and most Citizens obey them.

Here you are guilty ( because you can ) unless proven innocent ( but I have not done it at all does not count ) and subjects have no problem accepting their fate and this perverted logic from India's erstwhile Colonial masters !!!

Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Dear Mod(s) - Touche et accepted. Since the other party had opened the can(s) of worms - was merely trying to gather them up and put them back in the same can. No more from me - this acceptance is the last one.

Thanks XL_target for invitation and Fantum for understanding my message. Fantum, I understand 100% of what you are saying. The shooting fraternity in India is frustrated and maybe I was living in a fantasy after all ! Thanks for this wake up call. I think what we say is important but how we say is even more important and some people just don't get it ! I am still fuming from my last post ! We are all in the same boat and must mind the tone of our communication so our message gets across effectively.

When a person spends half of his life abroad enjoying this sport w/o any restriction and much fanfare, this is a difficult pill to swallow when all I could sense is frustration for the very basic amenities of life. You can't blame me for trying to help you all , can you ? As they say, once you have seen the light, darkness can be very frustrating !

Best wishes,
