Hunting Tourism from India

Post by ribaalber » Mon Mar 12, 2012 12:44 pm

I would very much like to go Hunting...

But I am not aware of how the Outfitters or Hunting tourism work.
But seeing the enthu of some communities of India, specially in Punjab and nearby, I have a feeling there must be some travel agents that deal in this at least in Delhi? Can anyone please reply if they know of any such arrangements?

How does it usually work?

It would be nice if you can break down the cost of such for different hunting trips.. based on the type of Game, and destination country.

I would like:
Birds:
1) Duck Hunting
2) Peasant
3) Even pigeon hunting in Argentina

Other Game:
Mostly Dear, maybe rabbits and wild boar.
I was invited for a hunt in private grounds when I was in the States, but I couldn't go..
But now I have this sudden urge and I seriously want to go on Hunting trips..

Also, do these outfitter provide you with all the weapons?
I would like to go to places other than US as I will there for a long time again, starting next year.

I would like to know about Hunting packages from India..
Budget: I am not really looking for a 5 star guided tour kind of trip. Looking for more rugged stuff.

Looking for:
Cost of different types of trips
If guns are available for rent (what do I need for the same?)
Travels agents in Delhi
Info on hunting seasons
If anybody from here go often?

AFAIK no travel agents in India organise outbound hunting tours. You will need to do your own research online and directly contact overseas outfitters/ safari operators.

Decide upon the game you want to go after, decide upon a budget, choose the country, then zero down on outfitters from that country. Most of them have websites and contact details these days. Email them and ask them for a quote with a detailed break-up of all costs involved-including any hidden costs, pick the best one that suits you,and voila, you have it.

As I mentioned earlier,Shooter is quite knowledgeable and can help you a lot with this.

BTW, Peasants used to be on the menu once upon a time. These days it is largely frowned upon.Political correctness and democracy and all that modern day nonsense,y'see. (Sorry mate, couldn't pass it up. ROTFL ).

But no I am not willing to do anything illegal..

I think I read somewhere that you get titar and other birds in Jama Masjid. Not sure if it is true, but I don't want to get caught carrying illegal stuff, so I won't be going looking for it.... just saying ROTFL
Also I think google throws up some supplier in Delhi.. but never tried to call that phone..

And thanks for the Info.. on hunting.. (not looking for Safari)
I was just trying to get a general Idea.. because I thought there must be some people who go on such trips..
I maybe willing to spend 2-3 L

Thanks Abhijeet Plus let me add this stern warning .....

" Do not go to some travel agents to find hunting places and opportunities , they will sell you any thing ".

Depends your budget , do your own home work and look for references , call the references , go to their web sites and if they have land line phone and physical address . And agree not to make one full payment at the beginning . End of the day write the cheque not leave credit number and take lots of pictures to give references to other people . And leave a good tip ( 15%) for the people who serve you - Haji

Aloha,

If coming to Hawaii is in your budget, here is a list of Legal Guides listed with our local state game department.

http://hawaii.gov/dlnr/dofaw/hunting/re ... ing-guides

Also here is an outfitter that may be able to take care of you from start to finish

http://www.hawaiisafaris.com/

There are other guides and services not listed.

You can hunt Axis Deer, goat, wild pig and mouflon sheep.

Depending on which island, you can go hunting and the wife and kids can go shopping or to the beach.

If you are interested in deep sea fishing, I can recommend this boat: http://live-bait.com/

If you like Fresh water fishing, I can recommend this family: http://stanwright.com/default.asp?nc=6472&id=42
Full service, pick you up and bring you back. Loves food, ask if he'll bring lunch(optional?)

Stan is a good friend. A photographer by trade. Did our Wedding photos. And a well known fisherman.

Did hold a few IGFA records until broken by others.

Hi, my name is Cameron, I am in Australia and can let you know we have many hunting opportunities here for all types of Game, from Ducks and Quail, to 7 species of Deer and Water Buffalo. We also have Foxes, Rabbits and Hares.
Many of these can be hunted without a guide, by purchasing a Game Lic and Temp Shooters Permit. Of particular interest to Indian Hunters would be our Wild population of Indian Sambar Deer, these are the main Game species hunted in southern Australia. We also have a huntable wild population of Hog Deer, the only wild population that is hunted outside of their native range.
If you would like any info about hunting opportunities here, feel free to contact me,

Cameron

Ribaalber,
A while back there was an outfitter from New Zealand who posted to see if anyone was interested in sampling the hunting in his country.
Here is the post:

Email him and see if you can set something up

I'd be careful about shooting "Dear" as well. That can bring heavy penalties in most places; besides getting you in likely trouble with the in-laws.
