Mr.Abmetha, If you have already three weapons of any variety, still you can apply for a fourth arms licence . Please do not ask for any caliber specifically. We are also idiots of a different kind .We also present unwanted and unwarranted credentials as if they will prop up our application. No NRAI recommendation is needed as per the law. { We also make wrong applications such as SBBL, DBBL, .22, and mention specific calibers and confuse the learned idiots. Even if the clerks are ignorant of the sections of the arms act, the learned L.A. Idiots do not correct them.}Take a photo copy of the Arms act section 3)3 and put it long with the annexure list. Friends please state BL or ML for shotgun [/b], PISTOL OR REVOLVER for hand gun and NPB RIFLE for any NPB caliber.

these guys want to walk in through a 'agent' , they charge exorbitant amounts ..anything between 15k-30k , these rates are of MP so it may vary where u belong to . Unfortunately Anna hazare is a gandhian otherwise we could appeal to him for this too.

As per the arms act, the police do have a right to ask for any extra documentation they need, so one cant say no.

Safarigent, from what I can gather from here two simultaneous applications have rattled the idiots. Since I went through the process of procuring four licences in this case I would have first got the big bore..... waited for a year and then go for the .22

When you approach them as a person with two guns they treat you with respect.. When you approach them as a guy with three they treat you differently... The law is there between the two covers of a book. In the world of bureaucracy and babudom one has to play the cards their way... My observation purely

Alls well that ends well
After the fiasco when i had gone to apply for a big bore and .22 licence, i had remonstrated with the appropriate authorities about how i wasnt happy with the way things were happening.
I had received a letter some time back directing me to meet the big man at the licensing deptt today.
On meeting him today, the gent was quite, well, gentlemanly and seeing merit in my case gave the necessary orders for addition of .22 lr rifle and .30-06 rifle and wished all the best.
I am actually quite happy at the way the folks at the licensing deptt responded to a greivance and redressed it.
Makes me now all the more motivated to do better.
