Turkey (and Iran) are premier destinations for the passionate Wild Boar hunter, because this is where one gets a genuine chance to bag a 300 kilo Keiler ( German for a Lone Boar)
A couple of friends went to Turkey and scored, it was a beat hunt in oak forests, but were turned off because the boars were left to lie there as the organisers would not even touch the game.

Note: a lone boar is also called "ekal" in the north.
There used to be a lot of stories about the shikar of "ekal soor" (never "soovar"; "soovar" was considered bad usage and reserved for pigs).
Ekal soor was considered dangerous and a worthy adversary.
Usually the wild boar trophies (world over) are measured mostly by the length of tusks. I have seen a single tusk measuring more than 8" (didnt measure it but to give an idea to the readers, it was made into the handle of a walking stick and is still with the royal family of ***********).
The second but less common way of measuring a trophy is by weight. However this is limited by logistics since wild boar are usually shot in the forests away from the availability of heavy duty scales.
A third and least known way of measuring the pig was very common in india (can only speak of a particular region) and that was to measure its size and "quality of eating". And that was to measure the amount of fat.
The thickness of the layer of fat in terms of finger width ("angul"). For e.g. "do angul saanth" (translated as two finger width thick fat).
Please note that the word "charbi" (usual word for fat) wasnt used for boar. "saanth" was a term used only for boar fat.
6 angul saanth was a legendary mark like the 10' tiger. And anything more like 8 "angul" i believe are mostly myths. I have never met anybody who has actually personally seen 8 angul saanth however every hunter worth his salt has an ancestor/or a relative or a friend who has shot one.

The best way to collect the tusks is to insert the skull or that portion of the skull in boiling water for 45 mins, and the tushes just pull out with ease.
