Nice to see you back Guruji! I am feeling a lot more lighter :D .

Sir, do you support the statement 'Tighter grip = tighter group'?
On the FP, I am continuing with the same grip pressure as you suggested in one of your posts (the force of a handshake before one takes on an opponent in a combat, if I am not mistaken). I am working solely on the 1-2 sec shot breaking box drill. Hovering regularly around 95% as of now.
The concentration is solely on the trigger control, so much so that the zone is getting compromised and quite some shots are landing in the 7th/6th and even in the 5th ring accidentally. Only once I have succeeded in not scoring a single 6. Otherwise, there is always one or two bloody 6's. When I am concentrating on the zone, the 1-2 sec shot breaking is getting compromised but the shot controlling (limiting the bad shots) is better although I am aborting a lot more. The confidence in the trigger control is fading resulting in a jerk and hence a few accidental bad shots. The right coordination of the two is still not there.
It is for sure that the bad shots are getting lesser day by day, groups are getting tighter and I have never gone beyond 1h15 for 60 or more shots during practice. I have never counted the scores because I think that the scores of practice matches do not reflect one's standard.

A few words from you will help me a lot. BTW, I really prefer the harsh words, Sir :) . Believe me, they help me really well.

thanks and warm regards

Dear tirpassion, FF informed me that there might still be another chance to make it to GVM. I am not quitting nor should you ... on me. :-) Quite obviously, my training in all its aspects was found wanting. I should not blame the debacle on any other reason, but SELF. In short, I have kicked myself out of the "Devdas mode" and going into regimen. Shall update you by this Sunday about all the pointers and related "ATR" - Action Taken Report. :-)

Thank y'all for sticking with me. Now I shall really hit the sack - again.
agn bhai,
I did not call you today just to let you cool down. Otherwise, everything is fine bhaisaheb, you are fine with all of us. You have known where you are standing and you will work from there on. You are really motivated and we are all there to help you out. I have noted already some things to be corrected and we will go on step by step.
To start with, take a margin of white band under the black circle in the sub-six zone rather than putting the front sight tangent to the black circle. Why? When your hand moves in the upper direction, the black SA image vanishes in the black circle and the alignment is most likely lost. Change you aiming zone.

best regards

agn bhai
i am sure u have seen many great sportsmen crack under pressure. but just try and understand that it is natural. some times it happens. quitting is easy anybody can do it. afterall we r not God. all of us feel fear. if we dont we would be mentally unstable. so go out and conquer fear. get physically and mentally fit and am sure u will do much better next time. as the famous tag line goes. Yeah Agn we have all messed things up. I began one tourney by upsetting the whole pellet tin on the floor ;-). Relax and prepare again. Remember these are just fun things that we do, no one starves if we don't do great.

HVJ1 Lord i thought that you had forsaken us. But Tirpassion has been doing a sterling job in the meantime. We are much indebted to his positivity and dedication. Regards, Dev.

Dear friends,
I did not tell you my stories of the 'Pillars of success' (somebody terms them as failures :) ).
I did not qualify for the nationals in my favourite muzzleloader event of revolver, neither in 25m nor in 50m. I was ranked 6th in the Nationals of 2011 and imagine the downfall in 2012 :) . I have also missed the ML percussion pistol event. Now for the brighter side, I have qualified in the Flintlock (with my personal best score) and the matchlock pistols. So rendez-vous in the Southern France for ML French Nationals 2012 in the week-end of 30th June and 1st July.

Thanks dev, for your kind words. I am honoured.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

Thanks friends for your support. You are going to make me blush now...
I also need words of encouragement from you guys like; are you doing your drills regularly? how much have you achieved in your SOA drill? and your fig 8's? work on your technics and do not think about the score! etc etc. :D

Guruji,
I do not know if you have time to read. But here is the match analysis of today. Regional championships of 50m FP.
Score: 501/600 and I am not proud of it.
84, 82, 84, 83, 81 & 87.
12/tens, 19/nines, 13/eights, 12/sevens, 3/sixes & 1/four.
The day was perfect. Almost no wind, sunshine and 14/15°C temperature. No excuses there. There was neither that trembling, hand sweating due to the Flight or Fight response. I am being able to control these emotions quite well thanks to the mental exercises suggested by you. No excuses there either... So what went wrong?

The confusion with the zone persists still and the coordination zone/trigger work lacks confidence. I am under the impression that I have a problem in believing/confiding in my own capacities. I am too impressed with my work sometimes (5 sighter shots: 2/10's, 1/9 and 2/8s; the last three shots were the two ten's and the nine) and perhaps doubt whether it is true. This doubt is probably creating the errors. I am a bit confused ...
In any case, the FP season ends for me here. To qualify for the Nationals, the score should have been around 520.

warm regards

Freinds,
It is only because Tirpassion is doing such a great job in mentoring that I can concentrate 100% on my work. I do check in sometimes, read all y'll have written and duck back. Tirpassion, I will reply to you in detail regading FP as soon as possible. Heck Dev, man I am still very much around, but I thought you were banned by NAGS!!!!
Best Regards to all.

Arrree saar what a happy day ;-). Neeways did some live pellets shoot yesterday. I had begun the evening by doing about 50 dry fires. Now riddle me this first target: ten pellets- 4 10's, 4 9's, 2 8's. I was shooting 5 shot sequences. Next group of 10: 4 10', 2 9's, 2 8's, 1 6ring, 1 7ring. I actually saw my hand jerk in a strange way and the shot going 7'o'clock for the six. Wasss isss dass? Fatigue? Will do another live fire session this week to figure out the effect of fatigue and a longer match...say sixty shots. Plan to dry fire and do box sets for the rest of the week. Have been writing diary for a change.

Warm Regards,

Dev

P.s. just edited my second score card. My memory was a bit off. It was 4 10', 2 9's, 2 8's, 1 6ring, 1 7ring. Apologies for the mistake.

Thanks a million for your reply Sir!

You are doing good work dev, now it is my turn to be jealous  .
I was just joking

You need to control your emotions to concentrate on the work. If you are shooting so many 10s and 9s, the bad shots 6s & 7s are more due to ERROR (provoked by a momentary lapse of concentration on work caused by the 'rosy/pink period' created by the deluge of Tens) rather than fatigue. This Rosy period comes to everyone and one thinks that pulling the trigger will shoot a Ten and the rigorous disciplined work needed to execute the TEN is forgotten. There plays the mental game.
Controlling the emotion is a difficult job but not impossible. If one is not fully capable of controlling his/her emotions during shooting, it is also very good to STOP after shooting a few tens to allow the rosy period to fade away and the expectation to dissipate.

Dear tirpassion, Thanks for the eye-opener on "#10s". I was of the opinion that if one has a string of #10s that means his hold and stance are just about perfect and he must continue even after 5 shots are done with - assumption 5-shot cycle; and keep on hitting as many #10s in a line as possible.
