Problem accessing IFG and its resolution

Posts that don't fit into any other category. If it's anything to do with guns, it probably doesn't belong here!

Problem accessing IFG and its resolution

Post by airgun_novice » Wed Jun 06, 2012 7:21 pm

Today morning I had problem accessing IFG site getting redirected to website-blocked page, I\Even after deleting the cookies etc. the problem persisted. So I wrote an email to MTNL as below in the morning:

==============================================================
Dear Madam/ Sir,

I use MTNL broadband from my home through # XXXXXXXX. Today I found out that the PERFECTKLY LEGAL SITE http://www.indiansforguns.com has been blocked. This is in addition to torrents sites.

Now the site mentioned above serves needs of Inia's shooting community with respect to SPORTS.

IF THERE IS A GOI ORDER TO THE EFFECT please let me know under what directives this blocking of sites has taken place. I would like to get a copy of each of those rulings in mail or by registered post to the postal address that you have on records. OTHERWISE let me know why your restrictive action should not be considered a direct opposition to my Fundamental Rights ?

I advise you to take corrective actions to enable unhindered access to the legal web-sites and their services. Thank you for prompt action.

Regards
XXXX XXXX XXXXX (MTNL LL# XXXXXXXX CELL# XXXXXXXXXX)
=================================================================
I also wrote an email to that redirected page's Network Admin questioning his/ her identity, similar stuff that I wrote to MTNL and whether the site was acting under jurisdiction of Indian Law. etc. since * the IFG site was blocked as it fell under category of "WEAPONS" *. By evening the problem was resolved and here am I. :-)

Facing no issue accessing torrent sites like isohunt, thepiratebay etc.

With MTNL ISP this is the message - ""This website/URL has been blocked until further notice either pursuant to Court orders or on the Directions issued by the Department of Telecommunications". Think it all started with release of Ishqzade.

Some IT guy with anti-gun issues?

Could possibly be. Or directions from the Big Brother to 'test' waters. :evil:

WRT torrent sites, Google throws some media links that point the "source" as Reliance which was associated with the release of that movie. Plus it seems the Indian bandwidth is now controlled primarily by Airtel and Reliance which in turn lease out to semi-govt. MTNL ! Incidentally if that lingo is studied, it's seen that there is no clear cut GOI or TRAI directive on blocking access but a clear directive has to be given to grant access ! Ganga ulTee bah rahi hai. :-(

And you guys refused to believe me when I said it earlier. It's happening, soon we'll be like China where nobody heard about freedom of speech and internet is censored.
FACT: m*ats*in and l*monp*rty is still unblocked by the great firewall of China. (Try not to open the sites, especially if you are eating)

If anybody need private proxy, let me know. I'm sure I can arrange something.
When I'll get to shoot a gun?

Today's ToI has a report that some guy belonging to the main opposition party has filed a PIL in SC asking FB and Google to identify all Indian users (plus pay exorbitant taxes, etc.) in the interest of............................................ you guessed it!! National Security!!

As long as people insist on pricing movies, music, etc. exorbitantly, there will be piracy. (Why did someone name simple IPR violation as something violent and bloodthirsty like "piracy", anyway???). But.... that's a discussion best left to other forums (or fora?).
Cheers!
