Legal problems unless you shoot for self defense. Do not know how far this is true, have heard that the monkeys identify the "killer" and visit again to take revenge.

But the moment you slow down the dogs stop chasing. I think it is the reflex of prey running that excites them. Most dogs can be calmed down by speaking in a low, controlled voice and a healthy dose of pepper spray

I experienced this when a group of dogs started chasing me when I was riding a bicycle. The moment I stopped and climbed down they instantly stopped. After gave them a firm rebuke in a "doggy" expression and language all of them went away.

Read this in a local news paper today:

An Indian origin woman in Britain died of rabies due to a puppy bite she suffered on her trip to India 9 weeks ago.
In the last 10 years only one person has died of Rabies (contracted abroad) in Britain. The disease was eradicated in the country over a century ago.

No wonder the west still calls us the third world. What does the P.F.A have to say to this? Would also like to know as to how many people in India die of the disease every year.

one thing i would say is that the only place i have not seen any rabies is in the land of the nagas. NO please do not try to settle here. as hardly any dogs left to feed your habits.lol

The politicians will not do anything.The simplest solution would be to re start the killing of stray dogs.This will not be done.Might spoil the karma of the one who orders it.Politicians are generally a superstitious lot.Their actions controlled by their guruji/astrologer. Just see the tardy manner of disposal of mercy petitions lying with the Presidents office.

I agree with you, every politician I saw has rings on all of his fingers , probably in his toes too not sure though (I'm not Quentin Tarantino ) I'm okay with religion but things that people do for god makes me sick sometimes.

Speaking of sterilization, I don't think it'll help to control dog population as it's impossible to sterilize all of 'em. Also sterilizing won't stop the aggressiveness they show in mating season. I've observed oxen mating with cow and wethers showing aggressiveness in mating season, they also copulate too. I won't be surprised if monkeys start sexually assaulting women looking at the current situation in South Africa involving baboons.

IMHO government should legalize and encourage hunting stray dogs and monkeys till we get their population under control.
