Umm.. Hammer, I meant those easy-to-cook outside-still-yum sorta recipes not game recipes.
Well, adding to this do share your city's street food or if you have witnessed a Lord of Spices in a street during vacations!

Ever tried burying potatoes close to the fire and having them with some salt and lemon later?

And this year, even corn is being sold like this in Noida sector 18.
They cook it in sand and then sell it with lemon and pepper.

Yeah, i meant potatoes, not sweet potatoes. Try them sometime.
As far as sweet potatoes, they go very well when mashed, as a side dish to roasted meats.
Something different on the table.
Or here is a real kicker from my childhood.
In the far flung areas where my father had a tendency to take us for holidays, there usually wouldnt be squash or soft drinks, no juices or freshfruits.
What they did have was ration issue tins of jam.
All sorts, apricots, mango, mixed fruits, orange marmalade etc.
So for the ladies and baba/baby log, the jam would be stirred nto a pot of hot water, then condensed and served with ice cubes!
Man, nothing can come close to that!

Re: Outdoor cooking!?! Gimme more!
Will definitely try that!!!!
I have something from my Scouts and Guides Shivir Pustak.
Its in hindi, so i'll try translate.
Lit cowdung cake. Wait till no more smoke is coming out of it.
Make small balls of dough.
Wrap the balls in leaves and place it on fire.
When the balls get hard and red, consider it cooked.
Bati can be eaten with milk, dal or ghee.

How to make a tawa/pan
Dig a pit.
Put dry leaves/wood in it burn them.
Put an adequate sized rock in the pit.
Cover it with soil.
(you can also put something in the pit to cook)
Cover it with soil.
After few hours take the rock out.
It'll be hot enough to cook rotis for 1 hour.
