My Heartiest Congratulations to AB and SS :D
Heartfelt Thanks to the Mentor like GBM, for their valueable inputs and
Best wishes to those in queue like me :)

Friends,
I am from Mumbai, I have a hand gun license for last 15 years( I purchased revolver) , issued for protection.
I wish to get an additional hand gun ( want to own a pistol). For the same reason i.e. protection.
I have seen few people with two hand gun licenses. Now how should I approach this issue.
After reading few post here, I understand on one license 3 different arms can be allowed.
Also the issuing athority, usually take pointless objection and reject the application.
Then there is chance of appeal with HM and after that, High Court.

Should I find out( by RTI) , how many persons have 2 hand gun license and approach the LG with it to issue me the same. This will definately attract their wrath. But trying to be in there good books is giving me nothing.

GBM , Sir what are my chances if I approach High Court. I have absolutly clean records as far as Police are concerned.

Dear all kindly suggest what to do?

Regards.

I do not think RTI will serve any purpose. Try to convince the licensing authourity and appellate authority, there is already a High Court judgment related to this matter, it can be read at http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 89#p113930 If you approach High Court in a proper manner with all the legal points, chances are fairly good.

Hi Safarigent, goodboy_mentor

Thanks for your advice. I will go ahead and apply for a license.
I have 2 more questions :
1. Are there any institutes which provide a course on handling and shooting revolvers to civilians? As I have never handled a revolver, that would be good for me. Couldn't find any info related to this in the forum.

2. Does Karni Singh shooting range allow arms license holders to bring their own revolvers and shoot?

Thanks,
Rahul.

Hi Safarigent,

I sent an email to Shimon and a gentleman contacted me, but they provide training in air pistols and rifles only. And their place is in Faridabad, which is really far from my place.

I am planning to submit the arms license application form soon, but have a similar question related to the "No objection certificate from my employer". I work for a MNC and they wont provide me any such NOC. My question is :-

1. Did you submit the application form without the NOC certificate? If yes, did they accept your application without the NOC?

2. Also , the affidavit to be submitted has a section where you need to mention about the NOC from your employer. What do I write there ?

3. Will not having the NOC cause any problems with the licensing authorities ?

Thanks,
Rahul.

NOC from employer has zero legal value under Arms Act 1959. It is a ploy to discourage and intimidate arms license applicants by putting up impossible conditions which they will not be able to fulfill. There is no provision to ask or give any affidavit under Arms Act 1959. In other words you are not under any legal liability to give an affidavit under Arms Act 1959. If they are not receiving the application, you can send it by registered post and track it by RTI. You may read these links and try to understand the overall legal concept and proceed accordingly:

I didnt submit any noc.

The reason is that i am not a security guard.
Did you open up the form on the delhi police site and read it at all?

Thanks, all for your advice. Sending the application by post seems like a good idea, will save some time. Would I have to send the license fee as well (Rs100 I guess) along with the application in the form of bank draft ?

Thanks,
Rahul.

It's never over till the fat lady sings and in my case she hadn't sung yet.

Went to collect my license today, went through a 30 mins 'training' and after paying my fee when i finally go to collect my license I notice that the jokers have issued a 'rifle' license instead of the gun license i had applied for. A lot of noise later the babu agrees to research and says a 'clerical error' in the LG's office has led to the incorect order being issued to issue a rifle license.

Funnily, he answers his own question.. "kaun se sport ke liye chahiye" with .. "Yeh wala hee le lo ab ho gaya hai toh". :banghead:

Meeting the bigger babu was a bigger joke. "Hum ne toh pehle hee reject kiya tha.. aap ko hee appeal karni thi".

Will have to go through the physical, mental and financial pain to get the lawyer to write a request, get the order reissued, go round the licensing office for days and hopefully have the license in a few months.

I'm tiring beyond words! Perseverance- easier written than practiced.

Hi ss,
Man! All the best.
On a lighter note, you should have taken the license and gotten a good big bore weapon for yourself.
A shotgun license you can always get based on the arms act!! :)
