Problem processing order with Knife Center
Dear Ifgians,
After a long wait and patience i gathered money to buy myself a good Blade. Got help from the forum and its members and finally decided on ZT0400st. As i recently started earning i dont have a Credit Card with me. (I will have to apply for one). So i asked my friend (who also was interested in getting a S&W folder) to pay through his credit card. We made the order today with knife center in the afternoon and just now my friend got this mail from them ...
Dear Vikram Singh Jaswal,
We regret to inform you that we cannot accept credit card payment on this order. To protect your security and privacy, your issuing bank cannot verify your billing/shipping information for us. This is needed to accept your credit card.
We do offer alternate payment such as check, money order, wire transfer ($30 bank fee) or Western Union.
If you would like to pay via Western Union, please send payment to "Howard Korn" in College Park, MD. Once payment has been made, please email us the MTCN#, the city where you sent the money from and the exact amount in US Dollars.
See this page for wire transfer details: http://www.knifecenter.com/knifecenter/ ... nsfer.html
Please let us know how you would like to proceed within three (3) business days, otherwise your order will be suspended. We are open M-F, 8:30am - 5:30pm ET.
Sincerely,

I spoke to kevin online and he said the bank couldnt verify the billing address. I didnt understand what did that mean. He said a pre-payment will help. But the wire-transfer is proving costly as it will charge 30$ extra I seriously cant afford it. Other options are Check, moneyorder, or Western Union. Can anyone tell me which of this means will charge me the least?? I have anyways applied for a Credit Card online on my Bank Account. Should i wait and order it from my account?? Has anyone faced such problem earlier?? This thing has got all the enthusiasm down within me. Dont understand when will i own the Zero tolerance 0400 ST or a Good Knife.
help me to place my first order successfully..

The cc billing address has to match the billing address for the credit card used. Lookup the bills and copy/paste the address exactly as it is shown there, including landmarks, pin, phone, etc.
The shipping address can be different from the billing one.
If nothing works, drop me a pm and I'll order it for you. I do require an upfront payment however, since this will be the first time I will order for you. There is no fee associated, you pay me exactly what kc charges me.

Dear Prasanjit;
The Rupee has hit an all time low today. Does'nt make sense importing knives at these exchange rates. Let the currency stabilise.
Dear Amar;
Good man you...!!

@kartik... Yes.. this was mine as well as my friends first Intl order through credit card. Never have ordered any.. Infact I have only done 3 online domestic trnasactions till now... Jus a novice in these things you know!!!.. and as you said.. Its correct.. The shipping and billing address must be different than CC's billing address.. As I said.. I had placed an order through my friends CC... So had no knowledge about these things..
@Amar ji.. I have many hobbies like bike rides, keeping pets, rifle shooting and now this knife... And in al the hobby I have found people who have offered me help in a very extraordinary way.. In this cae you are the one.. I have applied for my Credit Card.. Would like to.do it from my own card now.. Will be a different experience. After my CC.. again if any obstacle comes up, You be my savior..
@Moin.. Donno where the economy and the govt is leading us.. Its a pretty sad state.. I had fixed my budget upto 55/$ of which I had thought that it wont reach ever.. But then.. It wil take.some 2 weeks for my credit card to come.. I can hope some miracle to happen in this 2 weeks.. ... Anyways.. Will order the same after I receive my Card irrespective of the $rate. Cant hold my money for long as I end up using it for feeding other hobbies and interests.. and this money is specially saved for my first Good Blade..

Try Western Union. It's easy and quick, you can track the money too.
EDIT: Just called up the local Western Union agent to get a fee estimation after reading kartiksingh1992's post. He said it's not possible to send money from India. We can only receive money.
Do they accept Paypal? If yes, get a Payapl account and verify using credit card. Now you can send money anywhere in the world.

Whether kc accepts PayPal or not, one should nevertheless get an account with them - so much easy to send money anywhere in this planet. I am a happy user of PayPal for the last decade or so, and most of my knife and light purchases happen via this route.Priyan wrote:Try Western Union. It's easy and quick, you can track the money too.

@Baul - Glad you opted for own card, this way it is easy to track finances and spares you from carrying cash always. Just make sure you get an international cc from the issuing bank. Drop me a note if you spot a good deal on bladeforums.com...

Is this the correct method?? I would not mind getting a pay pal account if it benefits and as well as you have had a good experience of using the paypal.
Did not really get you what you meant by a good deal on bladeforums.. Do you mean Bladeforums has good knives deal at times in their Buy/Sell Section??
Priyan, Can you please elaborate what problems you faced with Paypal?? Will be helpful.Priyan wrote:Nice to hear that but not everyone is happy with Paypal, in my case they screwed me up real bad together with RBI making weird laws.choombak wrote:Whether kc accepts PayPal or not, one should nevertheless get an account with them - so much easy to send money anywhere in this planet. - mandatory pan number association
- mandatory bank association and cannot hold received money
- no personal/money owed transactions, mandatory goods/services which has 3-4% fee involved for receiving.
All are justified in my opinion since PayPal had become a black money haven. Anything else that I missed out?

Go to PayPal and open account for free. The key is the email address of sign in. Associating a cc can be done when you actually do transactions.prasanjit.baul wrote:Dear Amar Sir, Please enlighten me on how to open a paypal account. Yes, the buy/sell section has the best deals - for eg, Spyderco military g10 or camo, s30v steel can be had from $90 through $110. Now search the same with any dealer...

They only ask for a pan no to shoppers..
So many times, it happens too fast
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
It's the eye of the tiger
It's the thrill of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge
Of our rival
And the last known survivor
Stalks his prey in the night
And he's watching us all with the
Eye of the tiger
You trade your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
