Mack The Knife,
Since you have seen the rifle,in what condition is it.
Does it justify the price quoted, obviously my guess was way of the mark.

Hi Sanjay,
As I recall, the external condition wasn't too shabby (barring the stock ofcourse) and I think the pics bear me out on that.
However, it was only a cursory look and I did not check the bore, bolt and other internal parts.
As for price, I am not qualified to comment on that because I don't know how highly this action is regarded amongst the experts. Grumpy now has a more than fair understanding of Indian conditions and perhaps he would be able to guide you on a price point based on condition.

Abhijeet, sorry for the late reply. The NRAI buys these guns from the IOF and resells them to it's members. Therefore it would be the same as buying one from a dealer. So no lock in period. The only thing different is that the NRAI would not be charging the premium that dealers do.mundaire";p="15083 wrote:Spot on Sanjay - the NRAI is selling IOFB .315 rifles to it's members for INR 41,401/- inclusive of VAT (ex-Delhi).Sanjay";p="15073 wrote: penpusher
Bet 40 and 50 just about get a 315.
OT, but since the .315 has come up for discussion, IOFB long-guns/ hand-guns purchased direct from the factory have a lock-in period, before you can resell it. Would the same apply to one of these guns bought through NRAI?
Cheers!

The NRAI gets discount on excise duty which dealers dont get...and hence they sell it cheaper...I think. Due to this special concession the restriction on sale has been added.
Re: What you should NEVER do to a Holland's .375 Magnum...
The dealer charge a premium of anything from 5-10,000/- over and above the factory recommended sale price.Last year the supply of arms and ammo to the civilian markey was stepped up with the result that the prenium fell to only 1-2,000/- Dealers were selling the .315 rifle for about 42,000/- ie about 1000/- more than the NRAI and you had a wider choice. However since the last part of 2006, the sale to the civilian sector has been curtailed as the OFB is trying to meet the Armed and Police forces requirements for the INSAS and so the price has increased again as the dealers have upped the premium. The price that the NRAI wants for the .315 rifle is the recommended sale price of the IOFB inclusive of sellers profit which is about 2,000/-

Being a .375 H&H the rifle is worth restocking.......provided allowance was made for that in the price.
