800 lbs Gorrilla???

Post by amitkj » Mon May 14, 2012 1:53 am

I have read in many topics about 800 lbs Gorrilla.

Can people plz explain what exactly is this?

This question itself could be a childish one, but I always prefer to ask questions to clear my doubts instead of making my own assumptions around that doubt.

Note: Category to post this topic might be a wrong one as I'm totally unaware about it. Plz forgive me if it's wrong.

It means someone or something very powerful. Wikipedia defines it as "a person or organization so powerful that it can act without regard to the rights of others or the law."

I support your viewpoint too, the only stupid question is the one that haven't been asked. We should always encourage people to question and get their doubts cleared.

For example,
Rick: Who can fire a 12 gauge 3 1/2" magnum slug out of a sawed-off shotgun single handed?
Roll: An 800 lb gorilla.

Isdat Afamas: What does an 800 lb. gorilla eat?
Mois T. Nougat: Anything it wants to.
When I'll get to shoot a gun?

Amit, I suggest you consider this luggage tv commercial from the days of my youth:

I would note:

Nobody doubts that the 800 lb gorilla gets the last word

Nobody smarts off to the 800 lb gorilla

Nobody in the room can pose a credible threat to the 800 lb gorilla

Chuck Norris couldn't even hope to deal with an 800 lb gorilla. int fact, the only one who would dare to argue with an 800 lb gorilla and be able to hope for success would be Rajinikanth

I would note, in the event that someone wants to quibble with my assertions here, that Flash Gordon once defeated Emperor Ming's Sacred Orangapoid in the Tournament of Death, as you can see here:

In my defense, however, let me reply that an orangapoid is not a gorilla.
