does it mean i should be a member of an indian rifle club or any in UK??

Indian rifle club which is associated to & recognized by NRAI...

And it is not member it is a registerd shooter which means you should have played atleast one match

Hello friends,

I am going to import a STEYR LP 10 via courier route from Austria and things have change very much which I would like to share.

The manufacturer is charging me about 12,000 INR on account of Freight for Dangerous Goods .

Secondly big blow is, despite the membership hassles he asked me to get written permission from the DGCA (Director General Of Civil Avaition) for importing Dangerous goods. I am sure that i wont even get a reply from his office If i apply.

Thirdly, The air pistol will not be delivered to my address but it will sent to an International Airport near me (IGI) and I will have to personally come to get it released from the custom department with full documentation.

Things have not changed this was the same procedure I followed to get my LP 10 about 7 months ago
from Steyr . Getting DGCA permission is very simple .Search the forum there are posts about how to apply for this .I got mine in about 15 days .
My LP10 was sent to Hyderabad Air Cargo and I got it cleared from there.It took me about 7 days to get it cleared but should be faster in Mumbai and Delhi .
The clearing agent charged Rs.4000/- for the clearing .

Dont worry getting DGCA is very simple. Mine came in without any hassel

The docs required are membership card from state / national rifle association. A letter which says you are a registered shooter.

The second task can be done by any custom agent.

I do not have a rifle association's membership. Is there still a way so that I can import one??

Ir I have to get a middleman who'll have to do it from me?
Does anybody has any idea how much these middlemen charge as their commission??

I am not a member. So what document will I get just by participation??

I practise at a range in a a school nearby, but havnt participated in any comp yet..

Friends,
Our State Rifle association will take 2-3months time to furnish ID cards. But they can give me the bonafide certificate! Is the ID card a compulsion to import an air rifle? If yes, what if I get a provisional ID card, with my photo and all the details mentioned in it from the Orissa Rifle Association, will that do?

As long as your certificate says "registered shooter" you are good. Remmeber it must use the two words Registered and Shooter together

They ask for your Shooter Id and the Membership letter from Rifle association as a proof of your Membership.

I dont have a NRA id please help me.
What will be the over all cost as the rifle is $ 45.95 wht will be the shipping cost+custom charge...etc
